I'm still worried we're not actively looking for another midfielder

Thomas and Daniels are going to have to up their level by 2 from last season and Finch and Lawton are going to have to be ready for L1 also

I remember he said something like we are looking to bring in a very good striker over the next few weeks.

Those two statements seemed to contradict each other. We were told the move to Sixfields would not impact on budgets as SISU would cover any losses so how, despite several unexpected windfalls last season, can the playing budget be cut by 40%? Without the points deduction we wouldn't have made the play offs last year so what chance do with have this year with a cut like that?

I appreciate it's not a straight link between expenditure and success but we seem to be setup to fail. Small budget, relying on players who haven't performed elsewhere or kids coming good. I'm find it hard to see this as anything but a long season of struggle, hope I'm wrong.

Very clear SP wants to be back at the Ricoh and now they are admitting it is impacting on signing players and on the amount of money available. Wonder if we will get any follow up comments from SISU on any of this?

Think he means either due to the combined effect of Relegation + Move.

The player budget last year could have been £4M based on the turnover from last season In the RICOH.

This years Is set approaching £1.5M.

I just hope the 3-5-2 isnt too radical a change for us. Im fearful this could overcomplicate things.

Q: What boost does large away support give to the players?

A: Players truly appreciate it. Far easier to motivate players with large away support. Can feel the buzz/intensity. None of that at Sixfields. Midweek games at Northampton in front of 1,200 supporters was difficult. Very challenging year and the players application was terrific.

That can't be right. The suxfielders are always going on about how the atmosphere is much better without the Ricoh boo boys. Unless they're full of shit? No no, it can't be that. SP is clearly an ACL plant.

That's my point, if it was £4m last year it should be £4m this year, if it isn't then the claim from SISU when we moved that there would be no financial impact due to the move as they could cover it is totally false.

That's before you even consider the 750K for Clarke, £3m for Wilson and whatever we made from the Arsenal cup game.

As is often the case with our club these days it doesn't seem to add up.

Now SP is talking total balls about Southampton, saying a successful season is why they are selling everyone I think he missed the point on that one.

It's true though,if they'd had a shit season nobody would be after their players and manager.

Impossible for Southampton to keep their players once Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal etc interested in them.

At least they've got top dollar for them.

It's a terrible idiotic post, it is however very reminiscent off one of your posts, completely and deliberately misrepresenting what large numbers of people say and believe.

It's a fair point but Lallana, Lambert and Schneiderlin were tearing up L1 with Southampton 4/5 years ago now. I'm sure they've had many chances to cash in on them over the years.

I reckon there are also other factors at work LS,true they've had a successful year though .
You don't see Everton or Tottenham shipping so many when achieving similar finishes IMO.

Agree - got top dollar, and provide they use it wisely it should set them up for the next decade - even a relegation would make them a giant in the Championship - almost certainly guaranteeing a return. The key to this is having the nerve to hold out for top dollar and....please note City.... having players on a long enough contract to be able to wait for top dollar to come in

I think it's very representative of what people think.

Presley is in trouble from what I heard. Fans are revolting and he is in the middle.

If I was him I'd get on the phone to a certain failed scout / manager and get some tips on how to worship at the sisu temple and be popular. That guy achieved it despite being abject in everything he did.

Probably not had the same calibre of teams after their players with the salaries on offer to them now though, nor anything like the amount of money offered for them now.

If they were to match the contracts offered to all those players now they could be left with huge liabilities, not forgetting that the same players were struggling to stay in the Premiership a couple of seasons ago.

There is also the fact that we were told they didn't want to and weren't planning to sell Wilson, so if all the wilson money has been reinvested and the budget is down 60% what would the budget have been without selling wilson? (which is what you told us was your plan) it would have surely been so low we couldn't sign a single player and wouldn't have been able to afford what we had.

If the budget last year was 4million and it's down 60% then that is 1.6million, if we got say 1/3d of the wilson money up front our budget if we hadn't sold him was going to have been 600k (down 85%) if we got half the wilson money upfront the budget was going to be 100k (down 97,5%) in neither of those scenarios could we have fielded a team, so either it was a lie that we never planned to sell wilson, or its a lie that they have reinvested all the money, or most likely both.

A large number of people? I was talking about the suxfields crowd. That's only large compared to a Sunday pubs league crowd.

I think you misunderstand, he was misrepresenting what the sixfield attendees have said and think just like you misrepresent what both groups and individuals on the other side have said and think.

your post was dickish, you know full well that the sixfield attendees aren't always "going on about how the atmosphere is much better"

posts like that are annoying and unhelpful whichever side of the argument you are on.

So I'm right to agree with SP then and at the same time point out that people who go to suxfields have been trying to big it up as being better for the team. Many even saying that the teams first half of the seasons performance would never have happened at the Ricoh.

"long term project"

no offer on the table for Fleck and many signings on a 1 year deal.

Sounds to me like a "take each season at a time" project

hmm

No I don't misunderstand. I think he and his views are pretty much accepted by the vast majority on here. Namely those who go are weak, spineless scabs. I think he is very in line with the "cool crew" on this forum.

Granted they weren't receiving the same sort of offers they are now but it's not as if these players have been sold after one successful season. These players have been doing it for past 4 years.

Where could we be if we had kept Wilson, Moussa, Bigirimana, Keogh for the next 4 years whilst adding to it.

you could be saying that about all the good players we've sold over the years, we'd probably just have a very old squad!!

you do misunderstand, weather the majority agree with him or not is completely irrelevant to what I said.

I said he was misrepresenting the views of the sixfielders (ie misrepresenting what toorch thinks) not what others think of toorch. You called him out for a dickish post, I agreed with you on that but I found it incredibly hypocritical for you to be calling him out for doing exactly what you do.
