Sorry going to be smug now
There's another one debated on here
SP's high intensity training and playing style will always lead to burn out unless you have a big enough squad.
It was a factor last year in our decline it was not all about the loss of Clarke and Wilsons injury

Players adapted to 3-5-2/5-3-2 and suits them well. Wanted more flexibility this year. Lacked width in the early part of pre season.

Hope for extra squad Investment should a windfall from a RICOH return occur.

Coulibably. Potentially very exciting player. Can change games and brings something different to the squad. Last year had a good pre season with Bournemouth then suffered a serious injury and kept him out for 6-7 months. Few games from the bench and showed some potential.

I think even with those two still there for the second half.
We had such a thin squad we would have still seen a decline in the second half of the season.

Not as dramatic but a decline and enough that we would have not made the play offs.

My concern now is, is our squad stronger in depth?

Because in terms of quality I think to have a string start again we will need to be fitter than everyone else like we were last season.

Academy so vital to the football club. Once the young players come through and hit certain levels very different to keep hold of them. Only have to look after Southampton this year and lost so many of their best players. Dream would be to create a Coventry City side with players from the academy.

Q: Thinking behind Reda Johnson being named captain

SP: Felt Reda was a player with good Championship experience. Had won League 1 with Sheffield Wednesday. Big influence and good communicator. Credentials to be a good captain.

Now SP is talking total balls about Southampton, saying a successful season is why they are selling everyone I think he missed the point on that one.

SP: Committed to the football club. Myself and Neil have worked hard to create a football model. Long term project and one we're really excited about. Club to really move on again return to the Ricoh has to happen. No matter how the team does...won't ever be fully appreciated unless we move back to the city.

Club can't realise its potential until we return to the Ricoh from Pressley

Q: How often does JS talk to SP. Does she ever go to any training sessions?

SP: Been to training many times. Adressed the players. I've been along to London to meet her. JS very much trusts me regarding the football club.

Q: Is Stuart Urquhart ready to challenge for the first team?

A: No I don't think so. A lot of development to be made.

Q: What boost does large away support give to the players?

A: Players truly appreciate it. Far easier to motivate players with large away support. Can feel the buzz/intensity. None of that at Sixfields. Midweek games at Northampton in front of 1,200 supporters was difficult. Very challenging year and the players application was terrific.

Fleck new contract.

SP: No current discussions with John. Huge fan of him. Terrific player. Not many playmakers better than him in the League 1. Certainly not a League 1 footballer.

Any mention of waggots meeting being transfer related or any news of possible progress on bringing another striker in?

Not in current talks with John Fleck over a new contract.

If John Fleck improves his fitness then he is far better than L1 standard.

SP asked what his feelings are on SISU building a new stadium..

New stadium still in owners thinking.. intend to move to new stadium long term..

PS I may be wrong, but I thought it was OSB that asked that question..

Wilson + other money received invested into the football club according to SP.

Budget down 60%.

Those two statements seemed to contradict each other. We were told the move to Sixfields would not impact on budgets as SISU would cover any losses so how, despite several unexpected windfalls last season, can the playing budget be cut by 40%? Without the points deduction we wouldn't have made the play offs last year so what chance do with have this year with a cut like that?

I appreciate it's not a straight link between expenditure and success but we seem to be setup to fail. Small budget, relying on players who haven't performed elsewhere or kids coming good. I'm find it hard to see this as anything but a long season of struggle, hope I'm wrong.

Very clear SP wants to be back at the Ricoh and now they are admitting it is impacting on signing players and on the amount of money available. Wonder if we will get any follow up comments from SISU on any of this?

Club need a stadium that generates income 24/7. Caught in the middle of it. If club does return to the Ricoh then it will be short term. Apparent long term goal is for the club to own their own stadium.

Petrasso.

Was a player we were interested in. Change of system - Petrasso is a wing player. Not a wing back.

Clarke will be a wing back/full back this season by the sounds of it.

Jordan Clarke.

Credentials to play in the wing back position. Really good athlete. Good on the ball. Can fill that position.

Has anyone asked about what sort of striker we're after or how close we are?
