Just seen there’s a big sign on the exhibition hall stating the entrance to the ‘Fan Village’. Has that been there before? Looks new.

It's been used as a Fan Village as such a couple of times in the past. Quite good actually with different bars and entertainment on.

Wonder if Ashley is planning something to get some more cash out of us punters.

Fan villages are not my cup of tea but it really shows the lack of any commercial ambition that the club has never sought to try and exploit having an exhibition hall next to the ground

It's progress that we've seen a couple of bars and food outlets pop up outside around the ground. But I wonder if the club get any benefit from these.

Could be because they don’t own it. Would have to pay rent on it for each match have to pay for the license and staff and wouldn’t see much if any profit.

Think a fan village could be popular but would it just take business away from the concourse probably would. I think there’s one at Ipswich and it stops serving an hour before kick-off.

Deals can be struck as to how much rent / what arrangements there are for using it. From the stadium owners' point of view better to have the space being utilised than not?

Haven't they tried to push Dhillon's as a fan village?

I think it would be alright every so often in the big hall, wouldn't really be viable every week though.

Accept all of that I was pointing out potential reasons why the club may not have done it in the past. Also have to consider what “extra” it will bring in given most of the sales would have been from the concourse.
Assuming it is the stadium owner who has now opened this they will take the profit directly off the concourse.

One of the regular gripes is the lack of boozers in the vicinity of the ground it’s a bit of a hike from any. A Village could be popular.

Granted it was an early kick off, but the Anecdote was busy for ages after the Sunderland game.
gets busy before matches and at half time too.
But granted, it’s not the same as the typical ‘match day’ pubs.
also bearing in mind a fan village costs money to get the contractors in each time to run the bars and that.

There are still plenty of places to get a drink though. Dhillons is 200 yards, 3 bars at the complex itself and 5 or 6 more within 15 mins. It's a lot better than it used to be, and better than many grounds tbf.

Is there anything open at the Tesco side after the game? Always seems a missed opportunity. Let the crowd leave more slowly and prevent crush towards the railway underpass, then 10 - 20 minute queue to leave the car parks.
Stadium is deserted 10 minutes after whistle. What's the hurry?

If they make it home and away it will be popular with visiting supporters.

Have thought for years fans should be able to mix, home and away if they want to, especially families, they do in so many bars and clubs around grounds so the football clubs are missing out by not having that revenue. Has to be stewarded well but why not. Doesn’t need lots of entertainment and will bring in more away fans who pay way more than those that have a season ticket.

It should be like that.

BUT.... that safety group won't allow home and away fans within 2 blocks of each other, let alone mingling in one space.

If we get F&B kickback for drinks sold inside the CBS, is a fan village impacting on a little bit of CCFC revenue? Anyone any idea how the deal works?

Not the SAG though.

They'd net off one corner for the away fans to prevent the two from getting to one another.
