Anybody any clues as to how it will work? The article doesn't really make much sense.

If one person from the group can't go, you have to list their ticket? Do you get the money or do the club sell it twice?

Revoking season tickets seems unusually harsh for a team that isn’t regularly selling out, especially if the rule only applies to families.

If you’ve missed 9 games and dutifully re-sold the tickets as instructed by the club, does your season ticket get revoked if your kid comes down with a fever the day of a 10th game? Or do you have to rush to the ground and scan your tickets before returning home so you’re not barred for next season?

Yeah, I'm guessing someone else will just have the chance to buy your seat for the game from the club

Having been to every home game and never seen the area full makes perfect sense to let people who don't attend let others have them

I’ll just scan my lads season ticket in for games he can’t make if it gets to the point of revoking it. I get the premise but he can’t make evening games basically.

Is it generally the same people who are missing midweek games, would the clubs records show who non attendees are, could the club sell separate weekend and midweek season tickets for the family zone, could fans be asked beforehand whether they can commit to midweek games and if not the ticket exchange automatically kicks in on those season tickets, I think all these options should be explored before they start revoking tickets.

Coventry City have announced an update to their Family Zone policy for the 2025/26 season, and new partnerships with Lockheed Martin’s face recognition and automated sniper drone programs.

Not sure the turnstile would allow you to go back out and in again

Yeah exactly.

I get that there will be people who buy a family zone ticket and never take their kids just because it's cheap.

There's also night games and things like that, if a kid can't make night games then they are going to resell them?

It's not really an exchange then if the season ticket holder isn't getting anything? It's a "tell us your aren't going so we can sell it. If you don't you will get your ticket revoked"

It will be interesting to see what the actual T's&C's are when they are released. My boy and myself currently have ST's in the family zone, and of course, with him being 6 he has missed a number of midweek evening games during term time. Will it be a case next season that if he can't make a midweek game, that I have to also put my ticket on the exchange as an adult won't be allowed to be seated on their own without a child?
I would rather they just give the ST holders the option to upgrade a child to an adult ticket for those kind of games to be able to take someone else when the child can't go, and just pay the difference.
Depending on how they do this, it could impact a lot of season ticket sales in the family zone.

No detail on how they would refund if revoked.

Furthermore, using the Ticket Exchange on more than 10 occasions will also result in your Season Ticket being revoked for the remainder of the season – no refunds will be given.

The article misses out that lots of kids won’t be able to attend midweek and night games. With the new SkySports Deal, you could be close to getting your kids season ticket revoked just by not doing the night games.

Anyone in those areas who’s kids can’t make certain games might as well scan them in at the turnstile themselves if the club is offering no incentive for it.

Also, if there’s people buying cheap tickets and walking to other blocks, that won’t stop the family zone from looking empty.

When your kid tells you he’s too sick to do Plymouth at home on a wet Tuesday night, but you’ve already missed 9 games:

I scan my lads and push him through then scan mine when he goes to games anyway. He just won’t be walking through on these occasions.

Hopefully anyway

Haven’t they got roller doors between the stands? Just shut the fuckers to keep the tight arses out and make them sit in the seats they’ve paid for

I just wonder if they will introduce a system where this can be prevented. Im not suggesting this as im against your idea but it could be done to prevent this happening.

I can't really get my head around why Doug is doing this to be honest the more that I think about it. Lots of potential holes in the plan.

Is it to be able to get more money by re-selling tickets now that the new Sky+ deal is in place and kids are potentially going to miss more games? If so, why only the family stand and not stadium wide?

Is it just an aesthetics issue, so that the ground looks full? If so, start with moving the camera onto the main stand so that the empty corporate seats aren't visible before looking elsewhere.

It almost seems that the big reason for a lot of the empty seats, the evening kick offs, is being largely ignored and heads are being buried in the sand. Sure, there will be people who exploited the prices this season and bought tickets and have just gone and sat elsewhere, but surely the evening kick offs are the big issue here, which are likely to just get worse anyway.

One way to stop the people who are exploiting the cost part is just to have an adult and child together at the same price as a standard adult season ticket elsewhere in the stadium so that there is no benefit to anyone without a child buying in the family zone.

You've hit the nail on the head here.....

I think the main issue is DK has never liked the concession price.

Only way to stop him doing it would be to have the staff policing it on the gates

This needed to be done. You can't have a third of the tickets unused every game when there was loads of complaints people couldn't get family zone tickets as they sold out so quickly.

Its pretty obvious that there's a significant number of people in there who bought season tickets there because they were cheap with little intention of taking kids on a regular basis. The alternative was making prices in the family zone the same as the rest of the ground and I'm sure people would kick off at that.

I guess the argument would be is it fair for people who have a high chance of not taking their kids to over 50% of games have access to reduced prices when that area is sold out. This season has generally been regarded as terrible for game scheduling yet by my very rough calculation (so probably wrong!) there's still only 8 season ticket games that were on school nights so not really sure the 'can't attend on school nights' argument really holds up.

They will need to make sure people aren't scanning tickets of people who aren't attending which shouldn't be too tricky but needs manpower.

What makes you think its not going to be stadium wide? I read 'possible to use the new Ticket Exchange system for fixtures with the full details confirmed during the summer' as there will be a ticket exchange available to everyone not just the family zone
