Jan 2008 where we won 4-1 no question!

Adebola's goal where he ran from the halfway line remains to be my all time favourite City go so far!

Was that the FA cup game that our defenders stuck their arms up appealing for offside from a throw in?

Dowie had just been sacked and we were being managed temporarily by rugby coaches!

Cant knock your commitment but you're giving money to our opponents and not to CCFC.

Surely that's a good enough reason??

Elliot Ward getting shoved into the goal for the pen

Miffy’s smash past Friedel at the end

Oh and Mark Hughes afterwards

What a day it was.

They also smashed us 0-4 at the Ricoh a month before the 2-4. 3 games, 3 reds and 15 goals that season.

I’ve sponsored a player and bought season tickets for others.

It’s the stickler for detail in me. Jay Tabb took his volley and it hit the crossbar, Leon Best was loitering for the rebound to drop back down and was pushed in to the goal. Ward converted it. I’m sad to this day that I wasn’t actually there, but was at the 2-2. Late goal by Samba, felt like we lost it.

You missed out that it was the centre half Khizanishvili who shoved Best into the goal to give away the pen, poor detail

Fair enough...like I said, I wouldn't ever fault your commitment. I was just pointing out the reasoning as to 'why is doing away games as opposed to home games a bad thing' in response to what you typed above.

I remember Tabb’s volley but not who got shoved. I do remember not understanding how the chap wasn’t sent off for it though. More gutting around that time was the League Cup loss to West Ham where it was a last minute winner if memory serves. Some great ties against PL opposition around then

Yeah. Did Dennis Wise score? Bounced off one of their players and looped over the goalie? Think Nakamura scored too. It’s a bit of a vague memory

Yeah that’s right. His first game back was the 2-4 at the Hawthorns where he scored two and Robinson got sent off.

Not at all. It’s a shame we all can’t do what we do without being questioned. There are too many discussions containing “you’re wrong for going” or “you’re wrong for not going” and not enough conversations like what we’ve had on this thread about football. I don’t blame those that are having those discussions. I blame those that have made the decisions that don’t give a stuff about who they effect.

Everyone can do as they please but if they don’t go, they’re missing out. Played some great stuff, last minute winners and in general a great day out. By taking a stance not to go, the only person you’re affecting is yourself.

Ah yes the 70's, playing at Highfield Road, quality player's playing in front of 20 thousands plus crowds, playing in Europe against Bayern Munich fc, goal of the season with the donkey kick and the great Tommy Hutchison, plus drinking beers on the terraces.

What is there not to like.

The mid 70’s were shite. We had an experience of 10,000 crowds (got worse in the 80’s) and a continuance of dire relegation battles. We had a couple of seasons towards the end of the 70’s when we were on it including the best season we’ve ever had but let’s not pretend there wasn’t a lot of rubbish in between

Playing in Europe, in the top flight, centre forwards who could head a ball, I'd take that every time.

Even with dire relegation battles .

God you're so negative, so okay you win.

Yes the team were shite at times, but the team were playing in their own shite stadium in their own shite city.

You happy now .
