Ahh fuck Lewis should’ve had that. Did feel like he could’ve just stayed out. Surprised more people didn’t go for the 1 stop with all the DRS trains happening in the top 10.

Not as quick as most predictions then for red bull?

Shows how far we've come, that Max didn't just breeze by everyone and win at a canter as he's done in the last couple of years.

That hard stint was absolutely ridiculous from Russell. Fair play, he pulled out something nobody else did.

I think he might have still had the words of his team ringing in his ear from last race, he gave his teammate too much room in the first corner and it ruined his race.

Need an immediate ban on any further upgrades Nice & competitive now with all the top 4 teams being close to enough to a par to make each race interesting.

Underweight car, weighed twice to confirm.

Slam dunk, unfortunately.

Russell DSQ, Hamilton win

We're so back

Feel bad for George, but 1.5kg seems like a significant amount so something has gone seriously wrong there.

Apparently it's the extra rubber he used up by only one stopping . Interesting thing is the car was exactly the right weight before the fuel tank was emptied. So just 1.5kg of fuel left in car at the end of the race - that's cutting it mighty fine.

It’s only 0.18% under, so I’m not sure if that is significant or not.

The irony is that, to gain the weight advantage (if it was a material advantage), he had to suffer the disadvantage of driving on worn tyres.

It’s all very unfortunate but rules are rules.

Even after all these years you learn something new. Every race apart from Spa has a cooldown lap where drivers are told to drive through the "dirty" areas in order to pick up rubber debris onto the still warm tyres - apparently worth between 2-3 kgs.

Yeah they file them straight back in via the pit exit as it's such a long lap afterwards. A real shame when you are there at the circuit to not be able to cheer the winner in my experience. Though when we were there Seb won by a country mile and I wasn't a fan of him much then

Sainz to Williams. Are they promising a better car in 26 or something as that seems a crazy decision from him. Especially given the Red Bull have two seats coming up in the coming months.

Can't fathom it tbh

More and more noise around Max going to Mercedes next season, he will deffo in 2026, and we all know Perez will be sacked

Sainz could have been red bulls new spearhead

I am a relatively new convert to F1

Its a bit of a circus but now at least competitive

I cannot ever fathom why all UK fans are not behind Lewis Hamilton. Got to be up there with Andy Murray as one of the all time UK sporting greats.

Rumour is that he has an exit clause for any of the big teams, so this may just be a stepping stone for 2025.

If that's aimed at his colour then that's very lazy of you and pretty derogatory to F1 fans who don't like Lewis

I have never been keen on Lewis for a few reasons

1, He can be very hypocritical. He was preaching that people should go vegan and be on a meat free diet to help the planet, yet was wearing 4grand pure calfskin wellies in the paddock one race. Alongside being part of F1 and owning a private jet which is not something you should do for a career yet preach about climate change

2. He's very toys out of pram.

3. For me he isn't the GOAT and seeing him being lauded as it annoys a lot of people. He's definitely up there, and he's a true sporting legend. But he's had it on a plate from Day 1. He came into the sport in a car that could win titles as soon as he started. Bar 09, 22 + 23 he's had title winning machinery in 15 of his 18 seasons. Schumacher didn't, and won races and titles in inferior machinery (94 +95, debatle 00 also). Schumacher also got his win records etc when calenders were a lot smaller. Schumacher also built a team up from the doldrums with Ferrari and turned them into world dominators, alongside revolutionising the physical and mental aspect of the sport

Lewis is undeniably unbelievable and for me he is the greatest British sportsperson of all time. He however is not my cup of tea, but it has fuck all to do with his skin colour, and I'm pretty sure that's the same for the vast majority of those who aren't fans

1. I always find it very strange that people who aren't fans of his know these incredibly specific details about him. If I google "Lewis Hamilton calfskin boots" all you get are a bunch of tiny aggregator websites and forum discussions about it, I don't see a single reputable news or media outlet with an article on it. It feels very much like something you would use as an excuse to why you dislike him rather than a genuine reason.

2. Fair, but 90% of them are.

3. lol. "Had it on a plate"... His first teammate was the 2x reigning champion and he beat him in his first season! He was only in that car because it was obvious how good he was. You can have the argument about who's the GOAT all day, there's plenty of reasons you can give for Lewis - he's faced much stronger teammates than Schumacher ever had, has all the stats, never resorted to deliberately crashing his competitors out. I could go on.

But the main thing for me, as someone who is a massive fan of his, is that I often hear people say they don't really like him but struggle to provide reasons why... it does make you think.

You do know you can dislike somebody who is a different ethnicity don't you?

It doesn't make somebody racist, it purely means they don't like them

I don't care much for Lewis Hamilton

I also cannot stand Andy Murray

It seems like you're wanting to say those who are British and dislike Hamilton are racist

Obviously not everyone who is British and dislikes Hamilton are racist. But I wonder whether in a lot of cases racial bias plays a part.

He's always come across as 'manufactured' if that's the right word. But no denying his record, and he gains respect for actually practicing what he preaches with his beliefs.

RE: Sainz - Both of the big teams made it clear they weren’t interested in him for this year coming. Doubt they touch him next.

Merc are awaiting Max to step in imo and RB will be in the doldrums for a few years once he’s gone with no gem to replace him.

For me Hamiltion is like Bono - I think he's a bit of an arse who is a bit "do as I say, not as i do". If he hadn't spent so long being preachy about climate stuff while being in the most environmentally unfriendly sport on the planet it might not have grated so much.

But I definitely have respect for his ability and what he has achieved. It also got to a point where it was a bit boring seeing him win all the time so you just wanted someone else to. Same with Verstappen now (who i think is even more of a whingy crybaby capable of some incredibly reckless driving). Race before last I found myself feeling very pleased he'd won. Same this weekend thought felt a bit for Russell.

Bit of a British thing - we don't like our sporting stars to be too much of a personality??
His self-confidence often accused of being arrogance - maybe another British hang-up?
For me he's an outstanding sportsman. In a sport so often dominated by drivers from wealthy backgrounds he's had to work extremely hard to even get a seat in F1. Also weren't the same level of pathway programs there are now when he started.

In the relatively short time that the cheating Dutch bastard has dominated F1 his attitude of shouting over his mic and blaming everyone else in the team on those rare occasions he doesn't win a race makes me appreciate what an absolute gentleman Lewis Hamilton is.
