Exactly. Max has bullied a lot of drivers on track. The "new" calmer Max of recent seasons was because his car was so dominant he didn't need any antics.
Anyone who has some sort of car parity with Max is going to have to get feisty and be prepared for a proper, hard confrontation. Tbh Russell is one I'd think might have the "coldness" required to take on Max.
If Norris remains a genuine challenger then his friendship with Max and the previous warm words from Red Bull will soon disappear.

Yep. Can see Verstappen getting dangerous again.

But if there's different challengers to him in different races, he's going to be the one going out all the time while the others will pick up the pieces between them.

Btw yesterday again reinforces the theory that Red Bull have never gone for a proper 2nd driver that could genuinely compete because Max wouldn't react well to it - on or off the track.

Genuinely think you could put me in that redbull and I'd do better

He's useless, but who do they replace him with? Tsunoda ain't great and Danny Ric needs the scrapheap too

See, thing is Sainz wouldn't take the kind of second driver treatment they're going to expect. He won't do it at Ferrari, he didn't like doing it at Toro Rosso, no way he'd do it at Red Bull.

They want a Barrichello at Ferrari type. A dependable second driver, good enough to back up their lead driver with constant top three/four finishes, and there to win on the weekend Max isn't on it.

Mercedes seem to be getting their act together, finally. I wonder if in retrospect Hamilton is beginning to regret his move to Ferrari. At the start of the season it looked like a good move, i'm not so sure now.

What a stupid day in the strategy dept at Mclaren. Should've been a 1-2

What a fantastic race, made up for Lewis, he drove that absolutely fantastic. Thought for a second Max was coming to steal that away with the pace he had on those hards.

McLaren strategy needs some words, because that was.... Abysmal. I don't know what the hell they were thinking hanging Piastri out to dry like that. Then bottling the tyre choice with Lando. Got to do a whole lot better if we're ever going to get back on top.

That's a magnificent drive getting those used softs home. McLaren blew 2 massive calls there.

Chance to drive for the greatest team in F1, most glamorous. I reckon he's happy with his lot even if it doesn't work out.

This could be the season where pandering to Max (by not having a proper 2nd driver) could cost them the constructors.

Telling stat I've just seen is that Hulkenberg in the Haas has now scored more points in the last two races than Perez has in the last 6!

Wonder Perez has the mindset of F*** em. We know he's moody at the best of times and he did let Hamilton through easy on that last pass. Know he's supposed to but could have made it a little awkward for a corner or two to let Max close in. Plus don't reckon he's ever got over that race where Max wouldn't swap back places.

What a fucking race that was

Never cheered Lewis Hamilton home before, I did today, delighted to see him win again

Shit strategy from Mclaren yes but again, Lando not up to it for me. Ends up in no man's land at the.start again, misses his marks in the pits which cost him 3 seconds aswell. I stand by it, Lando is not good enough to win a world title. Piastri will win one before him

Another funny Perez stat. Today he got lapped by Logan Sargent

Not sure I agree with your Lando assessment. He's not a Lewis or Max, but there haven't been many of those through the history of F1. He's more a Damon Hill/Nigel Mansell. Could win a title if he's in the right car and the stars align.

Too early to tell anyway. Both Verstappen and Hamilton (in particular) have had seasons where they were just as capable of making repeated errors when the car needs them to push at 100% and beyond all the time.

McLaren approach/mindset was all wrong. Giving Norris info about tyre selection based on covering either Lewis or Max - should have been "we think this tyre gives you best chance of winning".

Although interesting that Piastri said without hesitation that medium was the best tyre, no doubt.

I reckon Norris could've genuinely been in a championship fight without the last couple of races. He should potentially have won in both Austria and Silverstone, could've been just 50 odd points behind instead of 80.

In with Red Bull yesterday, today in with McClaren - they're confident if they can avoid strategy mistakes. Hot & sweltery today - around 37c at trackside but that's down on earlier this week. Problem with Hungaroring is that it's in a bowl so temps higher than the actualtemp. Any rain going to be a flash storm as little wind and it's coming from the East - this time of year bad stuff normally comes from the South/South East.

Lando is much faster than Oscar here, I know they did the undercut but that only bought him a second or two, not the 5 he now has in hand

McLaren really need to start thinking smarter, they're in a title fight and if they keep being this indecisive it's going to cost them.
