anyone had it done?

I mean lens replacement, for us old gits, as opposed to laser eye cornea reshaping.

Any good/bad reports / costs etc

(my wife suggested I get advice off the GP, but I thought - 'fuck it' - skybluestalk is far more reliable.)

Might be a silly question, but what problem does it solve?

In my case long-sightedness also cataracts. Having it doen can mean no more glasses and no more cataracts. Also no more £8000 though I think.

A friend of mine had it done, cost a fortune and now regrets it.
His eyes often look sore and he seems to be permanently squinting to focus.

I thought it was free when done in conjuction with having the cateracts done.
Something I may have to consider in the not to distant.

If is the laser treatment, a mate of mine had it done and went from having terrible eyesight to having perfect vision with no problems at all.

Not had anything done to my eyes as yet, but I know a couple of folk that had laser treatment and they say it is absolutely brilliant how they can see so clearly now. Not sure about lens replacement though. Don't know anyone who's had it done.

Is it on the NHS?
As a pensioner or something else?

Always wear sunglasses outdoors, even when the sun isn't shining. It's exposure to UV light that causes cararacts.
I have them and have to get them done this year.
