Back in 2007 we were playing Man Utd at Old Trafford and over 10,000 Cov fans made the trip. Seriously impressive for a mid-week night game!
Mifsud was on fire and we won 2-0 see the video below.
I decided to drive up as I was working and couldn't make public transport in time.
All was going well until I hit the M60 and a really loud knocking sound starting under the bonnet of my clapped out Chrysler that I paid £350 for the week before.
I then started to lose some power and the temperature gauge rocketed up to red.
I'm now doing a max speed of about 20mph and the match is kicking off in 30 minutes.
What to do?
Stop and look under the hood or drive on so I can get nearer the stadium?
Drive on James Drive on!!
As my max speed dropped to just under 15mph and smoke & steam started rising from the front I approached the final M60 Junction enticingly about 10 minutes away from Old Trafford.
At this point my poor car decided enough was enough and promptly flipped its lid and exploded!
With car on the hard shoulder (hazards still worked!) I legged it off to the match and decided I can sort the car out later.
So glad I did as that was one of the best away games Ive ever been to - the atmosphere that night was electric.
The thing is that I knew my car was well and truly dead and being skint I decided to try and blag my way home on the train. The station was rammed and the police and rail staff just wanted everyone gone so I got on the train without paying - result.
The next day I rang a scrapyard in Manchester and asked them if they wanted my car as the cost to get it back to me and looked at would cost more than the price I paid for the car.
They picked the car up and scrapped it.
So the match cost me £350 for the Car £50 worth of petrol £20 for the ticket - £420 well spent!!

Ahh what a night that was!!!

I went with a Man Utd fan ( in the Cov end ) he kept saying to me how he was gonna have to watch he didn’t celebrate when they scored , he was genuinely worried about forgetting where he was and getting a slap.... he need not have worried

Well worth it though. What a game. I left Cov at 6am to go to work in Swindon.... left Swindon at 1 to pick my mate up from Cov.... drove to Liverpool to pick another mate up from uni. Drove to Old Trafford watched the game then drive back to Liverpool to go out on the piss. About 7 hours driving all in.
