We own our ground. 30,000 fans every other week. Serious players on the pitch with a squad worth circa. £100 million on potential. Invested ownership. A top class management and backroom set up. A progressive club with a bright future.

But who couldn't miss the old days of Ken D on the bench, attendance around 1,400 for a game vs. Crawley, the legendary Nick Proschwitz leading the line and the tactical genius that was Andy Thorn. Total chaos for so many years!!

Been happening for ages.
More issues getting the train home, there never used to be actrain until an hour after kick off

I've been on the train to home games a few times and always ended up getting a taxi home, not recently mind

There is a train at 17.04 when it's on time, just means you have to be quick get out of the CBS.

I dare not say it (but I’m going to anyway) I just have a feeling it’s going to our season. Momentum seems to be carrying forward from the arrival of Frank last season. I also can’t help but feel that buying the ground has taken some pressure off promotion as it felt like promotion and the premiership windfall was the key to purchasing the Arena.

One thing I will say is - we’ll have a better view of where we’re at when we play Norwich, Leicester, Birmingham, and Millwall. A much tricker run than our first 4 games

people in cars think they should have priority and you get comments like about about idiot pedestrians. of course there are idiot, and drunk pedestrians, but equally even on the roads that are open, Hen Lane for example, you get drivers doing ridiculous speeds when there's hundreds if not thousands of pedestrians. I came up with a solution that would help most, but fell on deaf ears so far.

Allow traffic on the Casino side (not immediately, but 5 mins or so after when the majority has dispersed), to go to the motorway if desired. Allow anything Tesco side to leave towards town.

Nothing crosses the middle part anywhere near the bridge and nothing allowed up Hen Lane/WH Lane.

That not only allows lots of traffic away quickly, but all flowing in the same direction if you park in the right side. For those remaining, once the first wave has already gone, there will be less pressure and less cars to deal with so will make it quicker and easier for those too.

Everyone is kept safe and nobody is frustratingly stuck not moving for 30 mins until the last few stragglers have decided to venture across.

At last some positivity on how we will do this season.

Disclaimer....I'm not saying we're as good as Leeds 12 months ago.

Last season Leeds looked very strong before the season started. They had a mainly settled side. Players straight on it from the start knowing how each other play. They had a Rudoni, a Grimes, a Torp, a Wright......

I would guess we're the best side in the Championship at this moment. There's some big hitters trying to get their team playing as a unit. We're already there. September is a massive month for us. Just 3 games but Norwich H, Leicester A and Birmingham H. Norwich still coming to terms with losing most of their goals, Leicester are in disarray with their best players being sold for starters. Birmingham at home is the one I'm looking forward to. It's easily going to be their hardest game so far and a good chance hardest game of the season.

Teams are going to shit themselves when it's their turn to play us. We (presently) have players every team in the Championship would love to have. Our midfield of Rudoni, Grimes and Torp is right dirty Nobody can match them 3. I'm still sticking to 2nd to 4th, but I've just got that niggling feeling we're going to be the Leeds from last season.

Interesting reading, and I like how the majority feel uneasy to say how good we are. We have had 10 years or more of misery and frustration but we have come through it and now we have an owner who means business. It's natural for us to pour cold water onto what we are doing, and more so on what we are capable of doing.
Like many older fans on here I am sure they remember how Man City were a bit of a yo-yo club and they then attracted investors and they have been on a truly amazing journey ever since, maybe, just maybe we are on a changing course that the majority didn't believe would happen. I think the current situation typifies our country in always belittling ourselves. Well we have an owner who is a winner so we should start believing a little more.
We seem scared to say we can be top 2, but what's to stop us? As far as I can see even the teams that are investing heavily have managers who will take time to bed in with their 'new' team. Apart from Ipswich, whose manager has immense presence and talent, I truly believe we have one of the best managers (head coaches) in the league.
So, I am not making idle predictions, I am not going out of my head, the tale is true. We have, now, a great owner who is ambitious and a winner. We have a head coach who is ambitious and a winner. We have a team and squad who are ambitious and want to be successful, so much so players want to stay here even though 'larger financially viable' clubs are after them. So, why don't we fans be ambitious and set the ceiling higher than we are used to. Let's be honest we are more than capable of finishing in the top two in this league, we should believe it.

Mmmm overconfidence is a horrendous thing - any team who puts a solid defence up against our flyers will hold any match down - Hull anyone ? The key games will be getting too points and goal difference early from the less settled teams - Oxford for instance - Lpool Ston and Brum won’t be pushovers

That's fair but I just want to enjoy our best start in ages while it lasts. There will be bumps in the road ahead but it's reasonable to expect us to be fighting hard for the play-offs - possibly even the top two - this season.

Is it an easy start? Based on what? No one knows how good or bad teams are at the start. You see teams make 11 signings and struggle and teams make 1 or 2 and flourish.

You’re right about 10 games in though.
My point is, whether it’s easy or not, we’ve started well

Yes we have started well. I got the easy start comment from here.
When the fixtures were announced,the majority on here were saying “ easy August followed by a difficult September “.
Personally I don’t think there is any such thing as an easy game in this league,as was proved by the results at the end of last season.

If it is such a money maker it does make you wonder why Ashley has quickly moved it on. I would imagine the day to day running costs of a stadium, staff and its constant maintenance is a lot more than people realise. I dont think a couple of concerts and selling a few burgers quit make up for it

Well there was the rumour he was using it to curry favour for a development at Ansty.

That has now been approved so I guess the arena would have served it's purpose and he no longer needed it.

I tend to agree and I was saying to my step dad on Sunday about tempering expectations until around the 10 game mark. I've said the same the last few seasons when we've had poor starts...give it a bit of time, wait to see how everyones squads take shape after the window shuts and all teams are fully up to speed.

Buuuuuuut......

The first 20-25 minutes on Saturday. Wowzers. I know QPR were pretty poor but I think that's the most focused and organised for...I don't know how long. Personally reminded me of seeing Leeds last season.

You're right though, we do need to give it a few more games before getting super excited. But it's looking pretty good damn good early doors. Especially as some of the early favourites have had laboured starts.

I'd imagine you could assimilate the roles into the current club set up. Likely that Ashley/Frasers is getting the money quicker from Doug then they would waiting for the money to come from arena. If hes making 1m a year from it, and Doug offers him a £10m+ increase on his expenditure - hes making the money 10 years earlier.

Frasers tried to buy other grounds as well, they were pretty far down the line with Headingley before it collapsed. Maybe it was a sector they wanted to move into but found there just wasn't any availability so decided keeping one stadium was pointless.

I doubt we'll ever know, or if we do it will be years.

Im getting the 19/20 feels all over again, I dont see a side to fear nor a side who I envy having better players. We have a settled squad that is definitely good enough for playoffs, we look fit sharp and are carving teams open easily, Hull we just couldnt finish a bloody happy meal. I dont want to say we’re gonna win the league but…

Stadium ownership has a feel good factor about it but the costs of running it rather than renting will outweigh the income. But, we don’t need to worry about proving where we play etc. On the field if we can add a CH and hold on to everyone else we should be top 8. We’ve played three poor teams so far and done well.

The problem with the train is there’s only one per hour in each direction and afaik there needs to be infrastructure work to make that better. Like all infrastructure in this country it’s been fucked about with for years by a variety of central govts is currently promised for completion in 2033 (though don’t know if the arena bit would be earlier): Midlands Connect - Nuneaton could see ‘rail revolution’ under plans

The smaller of the two platforms could easily take a four carriage train, that would help with the overcrowding after the games, at the moment it's only a two carriage train.
