In addition, who could have foreseen the Reda/Willis/Turner/Martin situation?

tbf, you didn;t need to be a soothsayer to anticpate either Reda or Turner picking up injuries. On t'other thread about signings, Turner's almost unanimously hailed as a success. I'm not quite so sure. In absolute performances maybe, but it was always going to be a gamble signing a player to get him back to fitness, and when it turned out he'd break down with an injury it's left us bare.

With both Reda and Turner we might have been better off going for a less impressive performer, but one with less disposition to injury. One who we'd have had more chance of still being here, so we didn't need Ramage.

(I'll grant you Martin falling at the same time is remarkably unlucky)

At the start of the season, given our previous performances, I would have settled for unexciting mid-field. Ten or higher would have been a bonus. If we had dropped some of these points earlier in the season I would have been delighted with our current position.

But we didn't drop those points and got into a promotion position, so any fall away from that is now a a disappointment

Start of the season I expected us to be mid table. Now, having seen how poor this league is, and with the signings we've made, we should be top 2 minimum. We're failing as far as i'm concerned.

Meanwhile you just shoot your mouth off. Yes you have followed the City for a long time. You can evidence some knowledge of the club's history and previous players. I respect that and you as a poster. But you also have a history of being confrontational and also changing horses mid stream. You can also be extremely biased.

Yes we are in a mini crisis. Most people with any sense have realised what the likely problems are (including you). Yes it needs addressing...but a forum and the realworld are too different things. Overall Mowbrey is doing a good job and deserves more time.

I would love to see your job track record of confrontation with staff v developing people.

This is nonsense about a 2 year project.
How can a project improve if it is based on loans that will be different next year.
In addition if our best players are not creamed off tomorrow they will be gone at the end of year.
We have some older players in the team that will also be gone.
So effectively we start again next season from square one.

Unfortunately I fear the worse if we don't get up this season.

Precisely. We are not a house being erected on a solid permanent foundation. We are a partially constructed house, but next season, the foundations will be taken away and all the bricks laid on top will fall down. We need to finish the house now and put a roof on it.

No but if this carried on another month and we'd only picked up a couple of points what then?

The early season form is then the blip surely.

Very astute (and accurate) observation.

If we hadn't resigned Reda, we wouldn't have needed Turner as a replacement.

Wouldn't we? The alternative to Reda would have been immune to injury right? Don't talk shit.

If we don't get promotion this season it will be very hard to stay positive. Lets face it next season we won't have Armstrong, replacing that number of goals will be hard, most likely won't have Maddison either and most seem to think Fleck is on his way.

Will need some very good signings or some of the youngsters to really step up if we're still in this crappy division next season.

Sorry disagree, when Wilson and Clarke went everyone had their thumb up tihere arse saying where is the next striker, actually the same with mcoldrick

Mowbray needs to address the issues - he's paid to do it

It's a fair point. If the trend and the slide continue, then we have to look back and say the blip was the good form, not the bad.
If the trend continues downwards we will have to come to the conclusion that it was the really good form that was the flash in the pan and not the losing streak.

It would also be clearly apparent that teams had indeed sussed us out.

Really need TM to do good business today to get our season back on track.

I'm so much happier having Mowbray in charge, because Coventry City's falls from grace after Christmas are legendary.

maybe it will push us into some signings that make the difference too.

end of day none of us have experienced a promotion chasing season in modern era, we dont really know how the ups and downs work firsthand. i am sure teams have been similar to us and sorted out to claim success. its easy to panic but we are still in it poor form or not

We were in a promotion chase in the first relegation season from the championship.

I wanted a top 10 finish with playoffs if things went amazingly so overall I can't really complain at the moment, but the current spell is a bit like how while you'd have taken a point before the game you're then the team who conceded the equaliser.

true, fell away sharpish in march or april iirc

but even that was what 15 years ago? this season feels like uncharted waters to me at least. my point is ups and downs are a given in most promotion seasons and important to realise it could still come good again

Hardly.

It was pretty much a foregone conclusion that we'd be deducted 10 points for going in to Admin. We finished 15th....10 places and 19 points behind the playoffs.

We needed a minor miracle to go up that season.
