But I'm still not convinced he'd have done it here because of the way MR plays.

Fair play to the lad. May be a purple patch or he's finding his feet but you look at him and JCH who've both moved on after looking distinctly average at best for us, as have most of the strikers we've had under MR (McNulty aside who's gone the opposite way seemingly and even he spent half a season looking quite poor). Why is it MR can't seem to sign/train a decent striker? With the amount of chances we tend to create (not including today) why are we unable to find someone to score.

Asking myself the same question mate it’s actually embarrassing

Really good finishes, they’ve got a new manager and seems to have found his feet. I know Chaplin forced the move but I wonder if Robins actually rated him?

Playing on pitches where he doesn't have to take three touches to control the ball is definitely helping as well.

But there is a world of difference between rating someone and being able to get the most out of them.

Anyone listen to the phone in earlier? Why the sudden love-in for JCH?
As for Ian, who couldn’t understand why it wasn’t going to happen, Robins does not play a system that JCH would fit in to. He didn’t before, he doesn’t now, he won’t in the future. Move on!

That call made me smile on the drive home, the bloke is clueless , got explained to more than once about jch, he just didn’t listen or understand!

also saw that Chaplin scores again, another player who just didn’t suit us but seems he fits into Barnsley style of play

Kevin Foley is the new assistant at Tampa Bay Rowdies! Joe Cole’s team where he went after leaving us.
What an awful player he was! (One of many!)

Bizarre, I had absolutely no recollection of somebody called Kevin Foley ever playing for us.

I am pretty sure we played him in the Makelele role, he was no Makelele.

Pretty forgettable, he was a right back for most of his career. Slade signed him and played him in central midfield, after realising how slow he was. I don't think he got a game once Robins came in tbh.

Apparently United will push to sign Maddison this January - £80m is the quoted figure but it would most likely be more with Leicester looking good for the top 4.

Is it right that we would get 1%?

No chance Leicester will sell in January. They don't need to.

Also at this point why would he leave them? They're looking good for a Champions League place whereas United are not.

Madders is a United fan. That would definitely sway him.

I doubt that anyone here knows - and we'd only know if someone in the club told us.

I have zero knowledge of what actually happens in football transfer contracts. However it seems to me that there are several options:

1. The percentage we negotiated only applies to the first transfer (from Norwich).

I think that this would be naive of the selling club. Norwich could have agreed a contract with another club for a small selling fee to avoid paying us much at all - but then other clauses upon resale. I'm not suggesting that happened - just that some sharp practices could in theory be played to avoid paying out.

2. The percentage we negotiated applies to all transfers but only of the fee increases. So say we agreed 10%. We sell for £3m and NCFC sell for £8m. So we get 10% of £5m (8-3=5). If LCFC then sell for £80m we get 10% of £80-£8m = £72m

But if then Man U sold to Saints for £2m in 2029 then as the fee has fallen we get nothing.

3. There is some other rule about subsequent sales. If you think we get 1% of the full amount then that would be such a rule.

If I were arranging the contract I'd go for 2 as it offers most protection and a lifetime interest.

I thought that the Maddison ship had sailed as far as extra money went and Wilson was going to be our next biggest benefactor before McCallum

Not sure Wilson would go for anything like what was being bandied about last year now.

Wilson hasn't scored since September big reason that the cherries are in the relegation zone

Yes Chelsea have moved on - but I think Wilson in the right hands will still be a star - we would be in for 10% possibly - they wouldn’t let him go for less than 25 - 30 mill so it’s 2-3 players for us hopefully with room for the management charge

Anderson said on his leaving note that the Maddison Deal will have setup city for income in years to come! so assume we must have it in the contract

I think there might be something related to England appearances rather than subsequent transfer fees.

that’s what has been suggested. Although I’ve never understood how, since the club we did a deal with was Norwich, and I can’t see why they’d think of us when they were negotiating with Leicester

Not too difficult really. Lets say we agreed 10% of any future fee with Norwich. All they have to do is make sure when they sell the player on they include their own sell on clause for at least 10% but most likely more. Let's say Norwich sold to Leicester with a 20% clause. If he goes to Man Utd 20% of the fee goes to Norwich and they pass on half of that to us to cover our 10%. Leicester in turn have to make sure they have a minimum 20% sell on fee so if he is sold to Inter Milan they can pay Leicester, who pay Norwich, who pay us.

Its a gamble. The selling club gambles on the player continuing to improve and fulfilling his potential, in which case they are inline for future income. The buying club gets the player on a lower up front fee as they are sacrificing future income.

Best chance for us to see money from Wilson sell on clause is for Bournemouth to get to relegated, which looks likely.
