I’m struggling to keep defending Vik, I know they don’t play to his strengths sometimes but even when he gets in the open space where he was so good for us he seems to trip over himself. Shows how big the step up is, thought he’d be doing a lot better.

I had my reservations to be honest. Didn't doubt he could play in prem. Just wondered about the elite in Europe which is different

Arteta has constantly praised Vic for his contribution off the ball that creates space for others. Vic is coming back from a bad injury. Top teams in the PL rotate especially if players are coming back from injuries. He is doing fine.

Praising a player for what he does off the ball is manager speak for acknowledging theres a problem with him not contributing with the ball.
Its still early days of course, but Arsenal have a big problem with fitting Gyokeres into a style of play that doesn't suit him.

They are but god they are a hard watch, I'm some games I think they really could have turned it on a bit more.

The Liverpool game they lost being an example, they were there for the taking at that point.

Left field one but David Stockdale (who played a couple of games in goal for us) has purchased Farsley FC - the club, ground, everything. Will be interesting to see what happens (for no other reason than curiosity)

I would say he’s found his level. But on the other hand, it’s Martyn Waghorn.

Sadly inevitable.

He seemed a bit taken aback when a few people were singing his song at Charlton.

Our loan player Ayari scored a fine goal to make it 2-0 to Brighton

One of my favourite footballers, its such a shame how he’s been ruined with injuries as he had so much ability and potential

Yasin Ayari in The Athletic:

“Loans have a bad reputation in Sweden,” Ayari says. “It’s like you are not good enough. So, when I went on loan, I already had in my mind that I needed to prove everyone wrong.

“It’s a good mindset to have, but also you need to be grounded, to stay focused and do your thing. I think I went into the loan in a bad way mentally, thinking I’m in the Premier League, coming to the Championship.

“I didn’t know how demanding it was, even more demanding sometimes than the Premier League. In the beginning, it was OK at Coventry, but towards the middle of that period, I didn’t touch the pitch.

“Even though I didn’t play (much), I felt so sad, because I loved the boys, I loved the environment. I was so happy getting to know the people, getting this experience to not have a good loan spell, to learn a lot about the Championship, how physical, how demanding it is, playing every week so many games.

“I needed to switch because I needed to play. It doesn’t matter how comfortable you are in the team. If you don’t play, it doesn’t make sense.”

Probably the only player I’ve ever felt sorry for mid game.

He got absolutely terrorised at that game at Burton.

Be good to see Godden get a few more appearances in the Championship.

Shame we've already played them twice so we won't get the chance to applaud him if he scores against us this season

He's a League 1 player. I think he's got some good attributes but hasn't got the athleticism to play any higher. Good to see that he's back playing as I think he'd been frozen out by Darren Moore.

I agree that league is his level but he’s playing in the worst side in it, he’s better than that.

Surprises me tbh! Thought he was a decent lower champ RWB when we had him but didn't see the technical attributes or agility in him to develop into a proper prem player

Happy to be proven wrong on any of the players I didn't particularly rate who have been part of the last decade's rise

He was 18 with us in fairness and still extremely raw, he was a slow burner but I thought by the time the play off final rolled around he was one of our better players that wasn’t Gyokeres or Hamer

Fair play to the lad I could see he had potential while he was here he showed glimpses of quality especially with his dribbling and crossing, he seemed to put it into the right areas rather than where we had players, he must have developed quite a lot in Italy though to be getting Prem interest
