I'm not sure he could do much about them. Horrific defending in front him.

I don’t know I just think he could have done better with two of them. Looks very late at reacting to any goal bound shots. Sorry just an opinion but he doesn’t look like a natural keeper.

Its fair to say we have had significant upgrades on him since he departed. Good player but wouldn’t start for us now.

According to twitter, ex loanee Peter Clarke will play in his 1000th club game this Saturday for Prescot Cables.

He played his first game in the 2000/01 season for Everton in the Premier League and turns 44 in January.

An even better piece of business than signing Matty Grimes

The fee is a bonus on top of getting someone else to pay his wages

Charlie McCan the prodigy who Man Ure poached from our academy has signed for Barrow on a free transfer after leaving Forest Green Rovers.

Only 23, I wonder how different his career might have been if he’d have stayed here?

It shows what little I know about football having watched it for 70+ years.I thought him and Tom Bayliss would have far better careers than they had so far.

You need game time in men's football in your late teenage years / early 20's. Players who leave for the "Big Club" hardly ever get any game time which then stops their growth. Watched a documentary on youth football and most of the academy graduates first contract is often the best of their careers. Loads get to 20/21, are released and become disillusioned with football and drift out of the game.

I thought Preston was a good move for Bayliss for this very reason, still having a decent career at league 1 level.

The lower leagues and non-league are littered with lads who were in bigger academies but couldn’t make the grade for one reason or another.

He barely played for them 12 league games in 3 years and they terminated his contract a year early to save on his 10 bags a week as Hickman confirmed for us all.

I thought he was going to be the next Maddison level player for us when he scored that goal.
Another player where I wonder what would have happened if he'd stayed here a bit longer. Was he the one where his parents had told the manager he was unwell so couldn't play or am I misremembering?

I certainly remember there being rumours of his parents interferring and more or less giving the "Ben won't be coming into school today" thing.

Bayliss was badly advised about his move to Preston. They were well stocked in the midfield area. Alex Neil didn’t want him and unsurprisingly didn’t play him.

He was recruited by the club as an investment but when it was obvious he wasn’t in the first team picture, they didn’t try to farm him out on loan to get the game time he desperately needed. I don’t know if he pushed for loan moves or refused them but I think the failure is ultimately on Preston.

What a waste. From his point of view, he should have stayed but if he did stay, woukd we have signed Godden?

Frank Lampard ‘Made It Clear’ – Coventry City Star Opens Up On Exit

Coventry City out-on-loan attacker Norman Bassette has revealed that Frank Lampard did not want him, but the club wanted to keep him.

Confirms Bassette is definitely not in Frank's plans.

Frank saw what the sensible among us did as soon as he stepped onto the pitch. Neither attitude nor skill at the required level. Ah well Austin can’t win them all.

Seems to undermine the whole ‘Austin outranks the head coach’ argument too!

Did Robins want him then? I didn’t get that impression. He barely played until he’d gone.

He played in 7 out of 14 games while Robins was here, starting four of them.

With Lampard it was 19 in 33 games, starting seven of them.

So not as lopsided as I remember.

I’d imagine Bassette was one who looked very good on the data models and the opportunity came up to buy him, didn’t feel like we needed another striker at the time. I’m in the camp that he definitely has ability but seems some off the field issues with him.
