After our promotion from League 2 I thought Tom Davies was one who would comfortably make the step up, but it never happened and it was Dominic Hyam instead who did so.

Davies never really kicked on and stagnated, thought he’d go on to have a good career in the upper echelons of League 1 wonder if he had any injuries that scuppered him

That’d probably explain it then, as he had attributes to be at the top of league one

Football isn't all based on ability, players need a bit of luck too.

Jonson Clarke Harris has gone from Rotherham to Pendikspor (Turkish Second Division).
I still say the penalty he scored to get us a draw at Mansfield was the turning point in our fortunes.

Disappointing we didn’t get more out of him, let him go on a free with no sell on clause and then he smashed it

It’s all relative.

Went for £1.4m in 2020 so 25% sell on would have been £350k. £350k to us at the time would have been useful; we were skint under SISU.

Wasn’t it rumoured we had 50% sell on cause we gave him away for free then it turned out to not be true.

Back then we were skint so yeah that money could have done us well

Really thought Jordan Henderson would have gone to Sunderland but he’s gone to Brentford so perhaps there wasn’t an offer to go home.

Had we of gone up, would you have wanted him?

Players like Allen, Eccles probably couldn’t have made the jump to the Prem and I reckon Henderson’s experience and leadership could have done us well if we would have gone up.

Having someone like that around younger players and in your changing room would help them develop no end.

Could have been Lampard’s right hand man from the playing side

If we had gone up then Henderson would have been an ideal signing to make. An international with bags of experience and a champions league and premier league winning captain. Just glad he didn't return to Sunderland as I want them to get the lowest points tally ever. Not because they're Sunderland but because I still am bitter that they beat us

Sorry for shitty link above-this not what it says!

Kyle Spence (@KyleSpence10) has signed for Karvan FK. The winger has signed a one-year deal with the newly-promoted Azerbaijan Premier League side.

Azerbaijan marks the seventh different country the 28-year-old has played in since leaving Coventry City in 2017.

Dundee fans wanting him gone before the league has even started!

SACK PRESSLEY NOW

Get him sacked now. Bring someone in who’s actually a manager. We are going down under this idiot.

Still trying to pretend he's a bad manager?

Didn't you say the same about maresca and company too? Gone on to win bundelsiga, Europa conf and club world cup they have

I think Martin will do alright at rangers. Staying up in the premier league is tough and failing doesn't make you a bad manager automatically

He's not a bad manager, he's an inflexible one. He isn't able to change his philosophy when it isn't working.

Martin famously said last season he wouldn't change anything even if it meant he lost every game. That's objectively bad management.

He's young for a manager ain't he? I hear this criticism slot and I get it. But I personally have alot of respect for managers that persevere with their style rather than abandon it for goofball or park bus. It can of course end in failure but it also helps him learn valuable lessons for long term career

Like I said there some that fail and some that succeed and imo go on to better things than a standard safe manager

Guardiola
De zerbi
Sarri
Bielsa

Come to mind as not changing their philosophy

Some may focus on oh Leeds got relegated cos of his style but stack that up Vs getting Leeds utd promoted after many close seasons where they did well. Taking atletico bilbos to two finals on being Europa.

I think Martin will do well at rangers. Definitely top 2

Peter bosh another example. Did amazing st Ajax

Then some crash and burns at Lyon and Leverkusen where everyone said he's too attacking and doesn't adapt

Now won back to back league titles with psv and got them doing well in CL cos he's persisted and perfected

You adapt your style to the one that is most likely to get you results with the players at your disposal. What wins you the Championship may not keep you in the Premiership, so you adapt to what most likely keeps you in the Premiership.

Anything else is a lack of ability.

You keep arguing, again and again, that if you don’t like slow sideways possession based football you want caveman hoofing. Wrong. I want to see pass and move football, trying to get towards the goal with purpose and generally focus on creating goal scoring opportunities rather than retaining possession with no purpose other than denying it to the opposition.

See how Liverpool have played this season just gone as an example, PSG another.
