Not better. Wasn't better when he was here. Don't get me wrong, I love Armstrong but Murphy proved himself in the Championship last year, Armstrong struggled at Barnsley.

In your opinion guys, I watched both extensively when they were here and while both had ability only one showed he had the attitude and mentality to make it at the top level. That's my opinion

Murphy did ok in the championship, I will give him that. Very similar to his spell here, started well with 6 goals by september and then faded along with the Norwich team and missed out on play offs when they should have been going for autos. Sound familiar to anyone?
So yea he did ok but nothing to show that he addressed the issues that were plain to see when he was here.

Murphy's strength is one on one when he can knock the ball into space behind the defender and use his pace to beat the player.

He started to struggle once teams recognised him as a threat and started to double up on him. He didn't have that many tricks in his locker as a winger at Coventry other than pace and a good first touch. Once he got clear of a defence he had a cool head to finish.

So yes can be lethal on a counter attack one on one. Threat nullified when defenders sit deep and midfielder doubles up on him.

A massive loss to us the season he went out on loan.

Shouted at players like Murphy when they weren't trying hard enough, but they didn't like that so they froze him out.

Whenever he played our game was upped.

And he was effectively replaced by Cole who had the stamina of an 80 year old.

I'm afraid I completely disagree.

Overall contribution to us that season there is no comparison.

One got twenty goals and was effective and busy in pretty much every game he played, the other was terrible in the majority with a few games of complete brilliance. As Sky Blue Bear said, the issues he had here were replicated at Norwich. He only scored 3 goals between the start of December and the end of the season. If he is that good then why was he so poor for so long again? Coincidentally dropped by Norwich (as he was here eventually), and the results picked up again (as they did here).

Armstrong is a far better prospect, watching pretty much all the games that 15/16 season shows me enough. He didn't get enough game time at Barnsley but I don't think that is any fault of his own. Put him in the starting XI for Bolton from day one and I think we may see something different from last season.

Give it up please. Murphy blatantly wasn't as bad as you believe and wasn't as good as others are making out. He played a part in our success under TM and our demise too.
It's not even last season, so let it lie ffs!

Just shows what a game of opinions it is. I really likes JOB and thought we were lacking something when he didn't play. However, as I have mentioned to you before, I really liked Murphy too and think he could really be a good Premier League player.

What is it with Bury. They have pathetic crowds, yet seem to snaffle up a few players early season. They did it last year too. Can't be bothered to look at who they've signed so far, but am pretty sure they've picked up a couple of half decent signings again? (may regret this statement when I google to see who they are later!)

If I am not mistaken there owners are quite well off, so they benefit from that, also they've sold James Vaughan for just shy of £1M this summer so I would they have a decent budget to attack the league with.

They've signed Maguire, Beckford, Joe Murphy, Skarz, Ajose.. Building a decent team in fairness to them.

Thanks for doing my work for me Robbo - I see that Bury will also have made some money through having sold a young striker (Miller?) to Middlesbore, Looks good business by Bury, though (is Nathan Cameron still there, too?)

George Miller, very highly rated (like our own George, Thomas) has indeed moved to Boro and imagine will sit in their 23's for a while.

Nathan Cameron is still there, they like him up there. I was never fully convinced on Nathan myself.

2 goals for Courtney Baker-Richardson today against Blues U23, only half-time and they're 4-1 up. He also scored against Leicester a few weeks back

Bullet header at 1:12

Just signed a new contract with Liverpool and has a choice of Hull or Leeds to go out on loan to this season.

Robbo I'd heard that they have told Cameron to find a new club, I talk to a shakers fan and that's what he told me.
I think he was on hefty wages at Gigg lane
