I wonder why it didn’t work out for Harries. He seemed to have every attribute to make it to the top. He probably should have stayed with us instead of going to Swansea

He was only 19 when he left us weren’t he? If he stayed he would have probably broken in on a regular basis

Just saw Brain Burrows walking his dog up the Memorial park. His dog took one of the longest shits I've ever seen in my life. I was even more disgusted when Brain, rather than pick it up, proceeded to boot the shit lump into a golf bunker. Surely that's a fine of some sort?

sadly not, but there's a little pond and also a rather modern playground that shoots water out of the floor which is perfect for cleaning your arse after inevitable shit in the pond.

Going swimming is the only way I can get the Mrs to have a wash of I'm honest.
Started to take her to town every Tuesday morning to have a bathe in the new water features where the escalators used to be, she seems to enjoy herself and I can nip off to the bakery and bookies. Win win.

Do you pop in Impulse for a quick pint? I once managed to find the dry seat in there, felt like I’d won the euro millions

Was it a decent cross with his right foot? Can’t remember Borrows ever producing a “s***. cross” before, first time for everything.

Blair Turgott has now joined BK Hacken in the Allsvenskan.

Despite spending most of his career at teams like Maidstone and Bromley in the National League, in his latest interview before joining BK Hacken (following a spell at Ostersunds who got relegated), he said: “If I come back to England it would have to be either top end of League 1 or Championship really because that’s where I feel I deserve to be."

What a charlatan!

He came the same time as Sanmi Odeulsi I think who was last at Hayes & Yeading. We had another loanee Grant Ward who was pretty good

Grant Ward was brilliant in that half a season for us. Has just been released by Blackpool. Absolutely plagued by injuries ever since that loan with us otherwise he'd be a good championship player

Jordan Maguire-Drew just came on for Grimsby & was heavily involved as they scored a winner in the last minute of ET in the NL eliminator
They'd earlier scored an equaliser n the last minute of normal time
Dion Kelly-Evans came on late for Notts County
A pretty epic game
It's hellishly hard to get out of the NL

I think it was speculated on here a while ago that it was unlikely given how severe his injuries have been that he'll play at the same level again. What a shame for him.

Terrible shame. If I remember right the previous Sunderland manager got him to play even though he was carrying an injury. His mind must be full of what ifs. These sort of instances is where the PFA should be earning their corn in supporting him to a positive future in or out of football.

Some players genuinely need a good 1-3 years to totally get over their injuries but because of the nature of pro football they rush / feel rushed / are pressured by clubs and agents to try to get back playing too quickly and cause more damage.

Jodi, Allasini are sort of examples, but there are many like Willis.

Is it time for an FA sponsored scheme for footballers with LTI’s to go to an academy type facility that mixes rehabilitation, support and alternative career study? A backdrop of football designed training but at a suitable level so those that do recover fully can go out on trial to pro clubs, those that can’t can at least get a back up skill to help on their next chapter whilst having support?

Sounds like a project for Warwick Uni. LTI footballers get their insurance scheme to send them there for rehab as above,
CCFC get to cherry pick the best who have recovered.

Just a thought.

I feel so sorry for the lad
He had a catastrophic knee injury that then became badly infected after his operation(s)
The prognosis was bleak but at such a young age he's been reluctant to accept he's finished

The best book I've ever read on the subject is Paul Lake's
It's a horror story

I'm Not Really Here

Paul Lake was Manchester born, a City fan from birth. His footballing talent was spotted at a young age and, in 1983, he signed coveted schoolboy forms for City. Only a short time later he was handed the team captaincy. An international career soon beckoned and, after turning out for the England...

Other young City players cut down by injuries in their prime that come to my mind are Graham Oakey and Lee Hurst. Unfortunately I have no idea what they did to cope with the disappointment and inevitable depression, or even what they went on to do once their careers were over.

Hurst has a school academy and Oakey became a delivery driver. I don’t think he ever accepted a FPA invite

He had knee issues while he was here as well, doesn't he have chronic tendonitis? Which perhaps contributed to the patella tendon rupture

Out of contract at Sunderland, wonder if they will keep him on for a year or whether he's totally finished. Real shame
