So one of my contacts at Hilton thinks you're on the money. She doesn't believe it's shutting permanently as she doesn't recall any communications about it shutting.

As a rule, a number of hotels (including big chains) do shut their doors over the festive period due to low forecasted occupancy so it's likely it's a case of that rather than anything more sinister.

I've also got a contact who was the old GM at the hotel and who is now involved with Destination Coventry so I've reached out to him as I suspect he'll have a better handle on the situation. Will report back once I've heard back.

This is what’s bizarre about the takeover - we currently have owners who aren’t bothered about taking us out the city.

Unpopular opinion:

Delapidations allegedly running at £1m per year open. Ok. Not all stadium and not all realistic.

Even if stadium delapidations are half, our rent doesn’t cover that plus power and finance costs.

If a mediator got involved even then it’d be difficult to argue the case for CCFC having a low rent.

Flip side is the (£1m / year?) stadium naming rights. CBS made it conditional that CCFC play there so in effect CCFC pay their way indirectly. That needs sorting out and CBS have some cards to play.

Flip side 2 is if MA names the arena after Sports Direct. CCFC need to push forward the notion that CCFC being there contributes to the advertising value in place of the £1m lost from CBS.

This should be obvious but in the case of CCFC SISU I’m not sure they have a grasp. (If they do read this forum then I hope they pay attention to some of the good points made by other posters.)

The unpopular bit:

If Wasps were to bounce back and pay towards some stadium overhead / create extra advertising revenue would that reduce pressure on CCFC rent (in the event of some kind of intervention/mediator)?

Reduce pressure on pitch by having lesser cup games at the satellite towns.

I’m no Wasps fan, just don’t want CCFC having a £1m plus rent.

Personally I’d rather they didn’t, but it’s something to consider.

If only someone else had thought this in 2014 and attempted to bring in another club to share the burden. They would surely be hailed as doing the best for the club and not at all fucking them over?

He bought it for the same reason everyone else wanted to buy it. He got it cheap and could see potential for money to be made.

He’s said he wants to have his base of operations here and likes sport. I guess we’ll see what his plans are, only thing I’ve heard so far is hotel and car park.

Surely Sisu cant sign any agreement because it would be null and void , with the new owner (King) taking over, there would have to be a new agreement with king, so he will need to sign any new agreement not Sisu, when he completes buyout.

No? CCFC would be signing the agreement. Otherwise we’d also need to renegotiate every player contract on takeover.

Regardless if he owns us or not, it would still be a dick move to 'redevelop' the Arena without CCFC due to the negative reaction/PR it would receive when he could buy any plot of land and build from new.

'Could see potential for money to be made'. What from? The club? Cov in the EPL is surely his quickest way to enhancing his bank balance I would've thought.

Kicking us out for Arena re-development would garner a lot but not as much as EPL cash.

He has to keep it as a sporting facility as designated by Sport England. To do anything else he would have find another sporting location.

Adding Sports Direct to a stadium name and 'only investing' net £100m over his time to anger the Geordies is a bit different to getting a club to leave a stadium so he can use it for his business interests.

I wonder how the annual rent, or license fee, is calculated. We only use the stadium bowl for about 150 hours per year.

It may well be that we got a relatively good deal, given that the CBS naming rights (bringing an additional £1.25m pa) were contingent on us playing there. FG may well not want to continue the naming rights agreement and I would expect there to be get out clauses for either side. I suppose any agreement may well already be null and void as per our license agreement. As you have suggested, the value in naming it Mike Ashley Retail Stadium (MARS) would come, as it did for CBS, from high level football playing there and that should, again as you have said, be reflected in any new license agreement.

Im really not sure that nouveau Wasps would contribute sufficient to offset the negatives of the being at the arena, for example fixture clashes or any damage to the playing surface. At the moment, there is no Wasps and the deal needs to be sorted by Monday 12 December. Whatever is charged to CCFC would need to be charged pro rata to Wasps else it will be another source of outrage - what will there attendances be like in the Championship? They will have no share of central rugby income either, that was worth over £1m pa.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Priority is get an agreement for CCFC to play at the arena, ownership and embargo issues sorted out and start watching our fantastic and exciting team again.

No. And I don’t see why we need a new licence either, except for the fact that because it’s a licence they can cancel it whenever.

What matters is the legal entity, not who the majority shareholder of that entity is.
