Why? We couldn't see us getting anything against Watford and Brentford.

If course we are capable of picking up points, especially in those first two games.

Forget the league standings? That's literally how leagues are decided

According to the league table we are better than Birmingham, Rotherham, Wednesday and Wycombe.

So you're confident the current league standings are a better indication of how the last handful of games will go? As opposed to the current form?

Because I'm not. Rotherham will finish higher than us. Let's hope Blues don't.

I can see 4 points... draw at qpr and beat Bristol City and lose at Bournemouth. Looking at Blues fixtures I reckon they will get 9 points being generous from their remaining fixtures. I feel we will get 10 points.

You're all over the place (as per usual).....

We fluked 2 whole seasons (including a playoff too) apparently.

Still think we will stay up but I was more confident of at at 14:59 this afternoon.

Wycombe were there for the taking, it just highlights that we don't have anough attacking quality.

Rotherham beating Bristol City hasn't helped.

Think Wycombe and Sheff Wed are down, luckily for us I think there is a worse team in Rotherham, Birmingham and Derby.

We will stay up but only just.

Yes, I still believe we'll stay up. Sure its not easy to say after today. I had this as a must win game and I'm gutted. The performances over the last couple of months have been more good than bad. Its not going to be pretty but I'm not giving up yet.

I suppose its just so easy to be negative because whats the downside if you're wrong? We stay up? If you're right, christ you're going to be insufferable (not directed at you, OP).

Yes, because over 40 odd games we've been better than them.

The league is decided after 46 games, not based on current form.

And even if it were, we are in better form than 5 teams including Wycombe, Wednesday, Derby and Forest.

Would be happy with 2 based on recent performances and considering who we’re playing.

It obviously doesn’t dictate our fate whatsoever but my work WhatsApp group is a bluenose, me, a Wycombe fan and a wednesday fan (and a baggies fan... it’s been full of joy this season), and the other three all think we are going down

Don't understand this at all. It's not too big for Coventry City. City of Coventry is much bigger than majority of towns or cities represented by clubs in the division. Also remember being in top division for 34 years . Also we have at our disposal, one of the best stadiums and and capacities in the championship and significant potential. .

Maybe with the current owners we are far from the wealthiest . The squad perhaps is short of players naturally suited to play at championship level . Seemed to remember for instance Sheffield Wednesday bouncing between level 3 and level 2, were they not big enough for level 2?

Of course any team can say this but we could have easily swapped 3 or 4 losses to wins and draws and maybe another 7 or 8 points if we had had more goal scoring firepower. Situation would seem very different . I agree that it has been a struggle but if Luton are big enough to play at this level ,then surely we are.

It is going to be closer than it should have been, it’s looking to me that MR is looking to get atleast a point a game being tight as possible at the back and nicking a win or two, could work but not good for the heart and obviously lose a sloppy goal like v Luton can be costly. We have 12 days now to get Godden fit and ready to start matches, hopefully Dabo isn’t too badly injured Kelly too. I think a point a game, 9 points will be enough but it’ll be proper twitchy bum time.

I take your point but how big the city is is not really relevant we are talking of the football club and it’s financial clout or lack there of. We can’t afford to buy or pay for quality players to support a quality squad. Hence why our survival depends on the fitness of 1 goal scorer. That’s not sustainable

Of course the championship isn’t too big for Coventry City but it could be with these present owners and their policies on how to run a first class football club in England, as long as they stay here we will struggle to compete. There’s one good thing though the bottom has fallen out of the transfer market certainly below the Premier and sisu’s annual policy of selling big and investing little is over and I also believe their pathetic EU quest is bolloxed too, I can’t see any reason for them to stay.

Rotherham is a huge game where the winner will probably relegate the other and a draw helps nobody.

Apart from three very good chances, one for Hamer, two for Biamou. Hyam missed a header and we had two or three other half opportunities. Game before Biamou missed two glorious chances. We've missed countless chances from corners and free kicks. We're getting some chances, what we're not doing is scoring them.

Time to bump this.

I do

Studying relegation targets was a regular thing of mine for many , many, many years when Coventry were in top flight.
So thought I would look at Rotherham list of games and come up with a view on what might happen overall it has ended up being a long post.

Rotherham fixtures are NOT that daunting in my view with so many in Yorkshire

Sat 20 March Bristol City A - Bristol very unpredictable
Fri 02 April Millwall A - Classic middle of table going nowhere club. OK never an easy place to play but 13 days for Rotherham covid
struck players to recover
Mon 05 April Wycombe H - Very likely win here for Rotherham and start of a big run of games solely in Yorkshire
Sat 10 April Huddersfield A - Tough game , likely both teams would be happy with a draw
Tue 13 April QPR H - Playing a team already it seems perhaps on their holiday. Likely win or draw
Sat 17 April Birmingham H - Vital game - too hard to predict
Wed 21 April Middlesboro H - Not an easy game but not that daunting. Its still a home midweek match which is an advantage
Sat 24 April Barnsley A - Tough game at 'Sky Reds' . Its a south Yorkshire Derby, a draw a definite possibility which would be ok for both
Tue 27 April Brentford A - Very tough game and likely defeat
Sat 01 May Blackburn H - Another game against a middle of table going nowhere club but can be Blackburn can be useful. Tricky to
predict but Rotherham wont be quaking in their boots for this one
Tue 04 May Luton A - Depends on Luton mentality on this one.
Sat 08 May Cardiff A - Not an easy place to go generally and a very tricky last game for Rotherham

Unknown Coventry H - Vital game but will fancy their chances big time if they can score first and will also be a midweek game

Looking at this schedule to me at least, highlights a lot of games but a massive chunk in Yorkshire (8 of 13) . I expect they would be happy to get a point or perhaps 2 in next two away games and than put massive effort from 5th April to 24th April. Coventry should aim to play them on Thu April 29 and move Huddersfield away a day back to to Sunday 02 as Rotherham in London on prior Tuesday night .

By avoiding playing Coventry when so many players were ill and not fit, may have been 'engineered' NOT to happen. Vast bulk of games now will be tough but after Easter and with international break beforehand there is big chance to for players to get fit and have 4 out of 5 games at home. If they squeeze Coventry game in that period it would be 5 out of 6.

My estimate for them is 19 points and that's 51 overall. Can the Sky Blues match 51?

A quick summary on race to match that predicted 51 points for Rotherham
Huddersfield - need 9 form 9 games - fairly easy statistically as they current average about a point a game over season
Nottm F - need 10 from 9 games - fairly easy statistically as they current average about a point a game over season
Derby - need 11 from 9 games - not too difficult
Coventry - need 13 from 10 games not too difficult
Birmingham - need 13 from 9 games - not easy but definitely do-able although they have a tough run in
Rotherham - need 19 from 13 games as discussed
Sheff W - need 22 from 10 games - very unlikely
Wycombe - need 25 from 9 games - no chance

I did say 53 would secure safety 52 might be enough but unless Birmingham and Rotherham crumble I still think it safety total will be higher than people think and in the 50's.

Time to bump this thread.

I do hope I'm very wrong but I did say points total will be high to stay up.
