We've had a large tree blown down in the back garden. Now I have to figure out how to deal with it. There is plenty of other (more minor) damage to contend with. Not jobs for the next few days, however - the weather forecast is not condusive to outdoor work.

The grandsons trampoline is the only casualty in my garden. It’s gonna need a bit of fettling before he’s back on it.

2 Jan 76. Chimney fell on the bed I was supposed to be sleeping in. Late Georgian detached house in Burton in Trent. 10 ft chimney got blown over by the force of the wind. Direct hit onto bed, through the bedroom and into an old scullery. I was allowed to stay up and watch ‘It Came From Beneath the Sea. It was that windy we decided to go ouside instead. We heard the chimney topple.

This is what it was like during the last floods a couple of years ago. This is Powick, between Worcester and Malvern. I had to travel to Cov yesterday (and again today) hoping I could get through. Thankfully, although there was a huge amount of flooding in the local fields (due to the rivers Teme and Severn converging), the roads were clear. The road in the foreground is the A449 to Malvern. The only other way to Cov is to try to go through Upton-on-Severn. No chance. The main road through there is flooded as well!

I used to work in Worcester and the flooding of the cricket ground and racecourse were a regular feature.
