The older fans of teams around us must be worried about us as we are the orginal escape artists- I went though many years of supporting our great team like others hanging on till the last day in many cases and escaping the drop by a finger nail - Where we are situated in the league currently is a walk in the park and nothing to worry about if it is compared to other years -

Escape from what? We've barely been in the bottom 3 all season unlike some of the top flight seasons

Favourite last day escape?

For me it was Spurs away, fantastic atmosphere before , during and after the game , we were all but down but somehow managed to get away with it again.
1st time I ever heard the Great escape at a footy match , later adopted by England fans.
Giving Gary Mabbut such an ovation when Spurs did the obligatory last day lap of honour and him responding with a smile and wave
Great days

Everton on the Sunday followed by BC in 77
Charlton was the worst and there was no stench of nefarious activity at that one

Villa away when Big C scored against us in the 2nd minute. Was stood very quietly on the Holte end with a mate. Genuinely thought we were down until I got back to the car and found out that Notts County had beaten Luton and we had survived (again...)

Exactly. 3 days total we've spent in the bottom 3.
We've been far more comfortable than we could realistically have expected.

This season we are like escape artists who have the key already in the lock, greased up with butter and a pair of pliers if all else fails. We will be fine.

Yep, the famous run across the pitch just before KO to the safety of the Cov fans.

Was on the other side of the Holte and stood there all game having to listen to them crowing about how they were sending us down.

What do people realistically think would be the minimum someone could stay up on? Looking at the table someone could stay up on 45/46. The magical 50 would almost certainly keep us up

There’s a lot of teams around us playing each other and top six teams, but I still think 50 points minimum if we can get there in the next 5or6 games we should be okay, last but one game is Huddersfield away could do with being okay by then.

The best escape I can remember is when we had to win our last 3 matches to stay up 1984/85 against Stoke, Luton and then League Champions Everton:

1984/85: Coventry City's great escape

Looking back on the great escape of Coventry City in the 1984/85 First Division season
