Maybe the club could organise a 'donkey kick' competition in his honour. Teams of 2 against a goalie and a plastic wall. And show the actual kick on the scoreboard OFC.

Have to agree on that, Nick. Half the time, people don't even know what a particular time is for when the clapping starts. I've certainly thought "what's going on?", thinking I've missed something.
5 minutes before kick-off for any applause should be fine, with the Tannoy announcer explaining to the crowd why it's happening.
