EFL clubs allowed up to 1,000 fans for pilot event matches this weekend

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden to meet with sporting bodies this week to continue discussions around planned return of spectators to sport from October 1

The quote doesn't really match the headline unfortunately. "The EFL remains in discussions with the government about the pilot programme which may include a limited number of further pilot matches during September with capacity limited to 1,000".

There may be a limited number of games used as pilots as some point in September is a bit different to clubs being allowed 1K fans in for matches this weekend.

Imagine any pilot taking place at St Andrews will be Birmingham matches.

Looks like clubs in the EFL could put their names forward to run a test even with 1000 spectators. Clubs in the areas of local lockdown (so presumably Birmingham) wouldn't be considered.

Can't believe the Govt are considering this at this time, can't help but feel it's more of a smokescreen to divert our attention away from other matters. However as others have said, would imagine that as Birmingham is in lockdown it will not be selected to take part in the trial.

Yep, says in the article that areas with increased restrictions cannot take part.
