I was reminiscing with my mum the other day about my Grandad who passed away in the late 90's, he used to go to city games regularly in the 50's, 60's and 70's but although never lost interest in the club he found he didn't enjoy going to games from the 80's onwards. One thing that always sticks...

Back in the post war days we always use to the score five goals in a game.

I believe I actually heard 'give us the old 5' shouted from the Highfield Road Kop in the early 70s now and again. I am not sure if the team ever obliged.

Used to be a guy in the West Terrace, to the right of the goal looking at the pitch, who always used to shout it.

I remember "We want the old five" being chanted in the West End in the 70's.
