Who should play? Who will play? Will we win and by how many?
I don't know the answer to the third question but the answer to the first two is not Rooney and Rooney.

England (maybe a 4-2-3-1) Hart; Walker, Keane, Stones, Bertrand; Dier, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Sterling, Alli, Lallana; Defoe.

Thrilled that Defoe is playing and that Rooney is not.

I think the Telegraph think they have top bantz

Two thumbs up from this boy, Bradley Lowery. He's being shepherded by Jermain Defoe. When Jermain was Bradley's age, football was played between villages.

Lithuania's tracksuits are rather snazzy. Their national anthem goes on for a pleasingly long amount of time.

Well done to Mr Defoe Still a goal threat at the ripe old age of 100, and well done also to Michael Keane, who makes his first competitive start.

This did make me chuckle though

1 mins

Right. The formalities are done. England in white, Lithuania yellow. The visitors carefully reverse the bus in front of their penalty area. Alli the first England player to show, trying a dart down the left.

Lithuania will be difficult to break down. Looks like they have 9 players defending.

What a move that was, shame it didn't end in a goal.

Usual tactics vs England from "lesser" teams.

Defoe is only 34. Klose was playing in the World Cup finals older than that.

Yeah, the Telegraph kept referencing Defore being older. I assume it was meant to be hilarious.

Sterling shouldn't try shooting, his shots are way too weak.

To be fair the opening for the shot had gone. He just needs to be accurate, rather than power.

That "goal" vs Italy still went in, I'm sure :shifty:

The one form of discrimination that still seems to be socially acceptable - age discrimination. Defoe is in better shape than most 20 year olds.

This refs a joke, giving fouls to them for silly things that aren't even fouls.

Why am I always nervous when Hart is in goal?

Add sky blue shorts and socks and England's strip would make a good one for us.

Hart's the best we have at the minute and I think he gets too much stick. The media peddle the "he's dodgy" line, then that gets in everyone's heads, then Hart's head and so on...

Only other keeper is Forster, he's decent.

England playing much too slow and passing the ball backwards too often.

I give us 7/10 for the first half. Hart mistake almost cost us.

This has the feel of a meaningless pre season friendly. It's a shame the 'lesser' nations are quite happy to sit back and defend for 90 minutes whatever the score. They won't learn anything or get better playing that way.

Goal difference might matter in the end so they don't want to get hammered. If it goes to 2-0, they'll probably come out more.

Exactly. It's like anything, you get better by playing against people better than you. FIFA n COD too
