No, the 4-0 was played at Molineux. Which makes it worse to be honest.

We lost away too, 1-0.

I have in my mind that the crowd was heavily reduced in size for the Molineux game for some reason. In any case, it was dreadful.

Southgate blamed it on ‘being too attacking’…

Agreed, aside from him we really are scraping the barrel post-Kane

Lampard is miles off being England manager, we're yet to see how he can effectively man manage elite players and he's probably not far enough removed from his playing days - I'm guessing he's played alongside at least two of England's starters tonight.

And to think it wasn’t long ago that there were claims that the mighty England shouldn’t have to bother playing the ‘lesser teams’ to qualify for tournaments.

Between 2-0 and 4-0 we just didn’t defend. Before then, we didn’t do anything to hurt Hungary - we had 10 shots, 2 on target with 69% possession.

In fairness, we needed to win iirc but the game snowballed and they just looked on the beach, just as they did v Andorra at the weekend.

What? Senegal are ranked 19th in the world…

I made those points in relation to playing teams like Andorra and Latvia.

Yeah I feel really stupid considering I was also talking about the performance against one of the teams the OP mentioned in their post.

Weirdly, even though we scored first, I still felt it was going to end up 3-1 to them. I could just see it.

Their intensity and work rate and pace and strength, was very impressive and I could see us continually getting caught out when we lost possession.

Not good to think I was right. It just looked on the cards all night pretty much

Worrying, poor - and maybe the grass isn’t always greener

Although proud to say I thought from the off the way Southgate was treated and lambasted for being the best second best England manager of all time was utterly treacherous

Disaster of an international break for TT. How many of that Senegal team would you pick over our players? Maybe 2-3 at a push.

How many of ours walk into a Germany, France, Portugal or Spain side?

Barely any

Its the usual overrated England player media toss. Also shows the premier league up for what it actually is nowadays, mediocre footballers on ridiculous money not able to lace the boots of those from 20 years ago

To be fair, quite a few would get in Germany's side - I looked at their squad the other day and it is 110% the worst Germany squad in my life time

Starting Robin Koch who was utter dogshit at Leeds as their first choice centre half

Agree on Spain and France though

To say that the Premier League is full of “mediocre footballers” is just your usual over-the-top whining.

I believe the next part of your routine is to claim that you won’t even watch the next World Cup.

It is full of mediocre footballers

Yes there are some absolute world class talent in there but are you saying to me you believe the quality of player in the premier league is at the same level it was?

Yea i will watch the world cup because its on. I won't go out of my way to stay up till 1am for an England game or anything however

No, I think the quality of player in the Premier League is much better than it was in 2005.

Every major tournament (and some Cov seasons too) you loudly and dramatically declare yourself to be unexcited or that you won’t even watch (presumably for attention) and I see you’re already at it again.

The suggestion on the main forum that Lampard could be the next permanent England manager really isn't that silly. If he manages to take CCFC to another top 6 finish or better, the FA could do worse.

Let’s be honest he’d be a Southgate style appointment. Finishing 5/6th in the Championship three times with clubs predicted to finish around 5/6th doesn’t exactly set the imagination alight.

Kane, Saka, Palmer, Bellingham, Rice and TAA in the right system walk into almost any team in the world.

Not sure Kacey is THAT good and Tats is Japanese. And I'm not even going to go there with Todd.
