Edit: great free kick - credit where it's due!

Not sure he's overrated , maybe badly used and underrated by many .

Superb player for Liverpool and a massive klopp favourite

83 assists in 319 games is unreal

Great stats for Liverpool. Don't disagree. Think Maddison would have ridiculous numbers in their team. TAA has a great cross on him, I just haven't been impressed when playing for England. The possession obsession in the England team probably hasn't helped.

Southgate mark 2, except less media friendly.

I liked Carsley as a player, and I'm sure he's an entirely decent bloke, but he's no more attack minded than Southgate was, and any decent team will embarrass us if we just sit on the ball and wait for things to happen.

It's just tedious in the extreme, this obsession with possession at all costs, and except for a few exceptional teams, doesn't really win you stuff anyway. I actually dozed off twenty minutes into the second half.

By then I'd counted over twenty back passes (just since half time) from players under no real pressure, and two forward passes from Walker, who instinctively passes backwards nowadays. He might as well sit in the goalies lap for all of the difference that he makes going forward. He's not the only one, in fairness. Grinding.

As a right back he is not very good defensively.

Maybe one of those whose PL stats (fantasy football stats) don't transfer to international football.
He's not a great defender - even struggling at Liverpool in recent seasons.
He has been doing well in midfield for Liverpool but looked out of his depth in the Euros.

I guess when you are the 'bad guy' in 2 actual World Wars you are going to have a few rivalries.

Must admit I find his handling of the media and his general body language/demeanor appalling

Some people just aren't media savvy and I understand that but coupled with a poor showing against Greece I do believe he has probably talked himself out the job this last week

I just can't understand what the FA have been doing since the start of the year

You did not need to be Sherlock Holmes to have a pretty strong inkling that regardless of what happened at The Euros, Southgate was probably off yet there was quite clearly no plan in place - Negligent and typical of our FA and as a result we will spend the next Nations League Campaign dithering in the second division instead of playing elite sides, in which doing so can give a pretty good indication to where you are at

It’s still pretty likely that we go up seeing as there is a play-off and we’re also capable of winning by 2 goals in Greece.

I have zero clue how they work out who finishes where in the event of a tie but it isn’t GD

Norway still above Austria with a deficit of 7 in GD and having been spanked 5-1 off them last night

Looks like it's going to be Tuchel if they can agree personal terms

It’s head to head. If we win 2-0 away in Greece we’ll be above them. Even if we win by 1 goal I think it would go down to GD so definitely not over yet.

Good manager, unfairly binned by the mentalists at Chelsea less than a season after winning the Champions League

Anyone who wins a Champions League with a front three of Mount - Havertz - Werner has something about them

Still worth pursuing. Tuchel probably won't hang around long.

nah, why waste your time chasing someone who doesn't want to come

You have mentioned us chasing Stamenic and losing out on Browne, just be the same but on an international level

Then you overestimate the attraction of the job, it’s the best appointment we realistically could have made.

Think Tuchels a good appointment - unlucky to have been sacked by Chelsea at the time.

He’s a real football manager in charge of the senior squad which is a nice change. Knows how to utilise Kane too

Nonsense, he's the best realistic option we have.

Pep and Klopp are never going to take the job and he's far better than people like Eddie Howe.

he's a much, much better tactician than we have had before and he's not wedded to 1 system or formation so there's a good chance he can come up with a system that suits our players.

More than happy with that!

A manager who has managed at the top level, actually won things and is used to managing high profile players and getting the best out of them.

Proper coach who understands tactics and flexibility. That's what you need at international football.
