Thomas Tuchel 'in talks to become next England manager'

He has been touted as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United during that time but reportd in Germany claim he's now edging towards the England job.

I don't know. A German in charge of the England squad just feels wrong to me. We will never hear the end of it from their citizens either.

Well at least we know he won't be a double agent, trying to undermine and destroy us from the inside out, because we do such a good job of that ourselves.

I mean we’ve got what is essentially an Irishman at the helm now?

Couldn’t care less if he comes from Jupiter as long as he is the right man for the job - and Tuchel is a good manager

It’s one of the most one sided football rivalries ever.

I've got a few German friends who are fairly avid HSV fans and they would question that statement.

I don’t think Tuchel is the right man for the job and his teams are all quite low xG so let’s see how long he has the goodwill of fans if we’re playing more or less like Southgate. He’s tetchy in the press so it’s easy to see how Tuchel unravels in the England job.

That said, his teams do well in tournament football which is a big plus.

Carsley is Brummie and he’s in that category of player that is English and decided his only route to intnl football was through the B team (ROI).

I’m was just listening to Talksport in the car and the England corespondent was talking she really thinks she is important and was moaning about Carsley’s answer to her questions, she always used to kiss Southgate’s arse and said it was a poor performance by Carsley for the journalists like it really matters as they will write what they want anyway.

All the talk of it being an embarrassing defeat and them being minnows, yet they won a tournament 20 years ago compared to nearly 60 for England.

Which is why it surprises me how dismissive we are of this format. It’s a chance to win something and instil a better mentality in the group.

The Dutch and Italians are seen rivals ahead of England.

Alexander-Arnold at left back?

Embarrassing that we have no-one to play there.

Never played there for club or country.

Surely we must be looking at options for this position? Blooding some youngsters or something!

Like Southgate Mark II

Seems a very bizarre move.

Otherwise, I think the team looks much better balanced.

I like Gomez. Rarely loses the ball. A clever little player with some lovely touches

So much better, the midfields isn't as congested, plenty of width with Grealish and Palmer/Walker on the other side. More space for our attacking players. When we do lose the ball both fullbacks are being much better at getting back into shape.

Agreed. He's much better than Mainoo. He'd have been in the England team a couple of years ago if was playing in the PL one not in France.

Still worrying signs in that first half of 'we're better than you' and just relaxing too much. We're 1-0 up against a poor side, yet still allowed them about 3 or 4 half chances, whilst creating very little bar the goal. Go for the throat and put the game to bed.

Alexander Arnold is overrated - talent, but too casual, and his passing is not a patch on Maddison.

"They won't get a better opportunity than that..."

They probably will against this defence.

How can we have an abundance of attacking talent and still look so flat and boring?

Carsley same as Southgate, boring sideways backwards.
So much talent and it’s wasted.

We don't actually look like we want to attack them and score. We just look like we want to stay in control. It's odd ( and familiar)

Too predicable and too slow in their build up.

Where is all the movement and clever runs?
