Another abysmal performance last Wednesday v Norway - not surprised are we ?

Why is it that even the so called minnows of World football continually display huge chunks of flair and originality which clearly shows up England's inadequacies for all to see.

We seem to relish occupancy of the middle third of the park quite happy to pass the ball sideways and backwards, unhurried and totally unaware of the paying fans frustration and resentment.

How often have we seen a 40 yard ball played from defence pinpoint to our "holding midfielder" who (without looking up) promptly smashes it 40 yards back from whence it came from. Why not look up look around and play a decisive forward ball to exploit the opposition and thus create movement and goal chances.

The nearest exponent to this very "difficult" footballing skill by a country mile is Raheem Sterling surely one of the most skilful and exciting players currently in World football.

Our succession of England managers/coaches continually appear to favour the no risk strategy limiting shots and chances resulting in our nosedive down the Internationl football rankings.

40,000 gates "on a good day" at Wembley will soon become the norm at this rate.

I thought we showed quite a bit of flair at times yesterday to be fair. Lots of back heels and little flicks etc. Also Sterling running at a defence in a jinky run had a fair bit of style about it. Where we fail though is in the final third. That final ball is sadly lacking and in and around the penalty box will seem rather clueless and opposing teams just crowd us out.

Passing the ball around from the back and the midfield doesn't neccessariy equate to poor play as long as there is an end result to it. Passing it around endlessly and getting absolutely nowhere is boring and completely pointless. There needs to be an end result to the build up play whereby we look threatening as a consequence of it all.
