This signing screams of mark robins wanting as many dangerous players as possible in forward areas because last season we had fuck all when it mattered

We lost sakamoto and our season fell apart

Just find it weird how everyone’s bashing O’Hare now he’s left us, I think he’s been absolutely brilliant for us both on and off the pitch. Suddenly some 29 year old Danish geezer pops up and he’s the best thing since sliced bread

We had Simms, Wright, COH, Palmer, Godden, Tavares. ….

A bigger issue for us was Collins confidence falling apart

There's a lot of flexibility within the new signings as well. Many can play numerous positions.
Wonder if we are still after a striker as well?

Okay fair but I still don’t rate him, not to say he can’t do a job and maybe that’s all it is, depth for the squad, hardly anything to get excited about imo.

Bashing? He was a very good player for us , especially in our promotion from League 1 . For me his consistency was what stopped him becoming a top,top player for us , and his injury as well of course

We had nothing , I was persistently told on here the squad was knackered .. we never had enough quality to rotate and stay competitive..

We have had success generally with Scandinavian players. Nielson, Hedman, Soltvedt, Gunnerson, Gyokeres, etc. Torp also showed promise.

Especially if we overlook Runar Normann, Martin Johansen, Thomas Antonelius (nee Gustaffsson), Martin Lawrentzon and Richard Spong.

Maybe he’s just not that good? Like come on he’s a 29 year old that no other team seems to want and no one on here has ever spoken about, why’s everyone suddenly thinking he’s amazing?

Forward options would be

Simms , Wright, EMC , rudoni , tavares , emiliano , sakamoto , rodrigues , Palmer (new striker)

Reality is we need to rotate the squad and stay competitive , and that's how we make may without players being on their knees unable to play at more than 80% , sign more high quality players

He has 100 games at this level, promoted twice, and scored in a play off final. How do you know no one else wants him? You base a lot of your opinions on guess work

We’ll all just basing our opinions on guess work until we see results on the pitch, surely? I’m not saying this guy is awful, it’s good to have depth, I’m just wondering if we can do better? At least he’s free I suppose, save a bit of cash, I’m not 100% against it, just questioning it that’s all.

And we come back to this debate again. Your imaginary money tree. This guy is on a free transfer and you seem to think its a poor signing. I doubt we could get much better at this level on a free transfer

We can’t sign all of our players for a few million. That’s not how we do things and nor how we should either. Free transfer that knows the league. Not much wrong with that in my eyes.

Can’t see this being true. Just not a very ‘us’ signing. Sorry Saddle, I reckon your source is having you on. If it is true I hope we still sign a box to box midfielder as well

Football League World July 2023:

Coventry City should look to all-action Premier League midfielder if Gustavo Hamer leaves for Burnley: Opinion

Gustavo Hamer has been credited with interest across the Premier League but Coventry could find a ready made replacement waiting in the wings

Tbf I edited the previous comment as you were typing this to include what you said there. I do realise not everyone can cost millions, and I know it may seem like I’m being a prick and being negative etc etc but I just want us to be the absolute best we can be. I think it’s always good to question things before going fully in on something, I might change my mind in time but atm I’m sceptical about this one.

(I just know someone’s going to cut the “I’m being a prick” bit out and reply with “now you’re talking sense” )

Johansen and Spong cost nothing and Lawrentzon was just a 6-month contract so not much of a risk with any of them. Normann had a lot of potential and Antonelius was disappointing but my point was that all in all we have done very well.
I had forgotten to mention Claus Jorgensen who was pretty good too.

I would not mind us taking a look at Emiliano Marcondes; just been released by AFC Bournemouth. 100 games at Championship level, being promoted with Brentford and Bournemouth, and although had not featured much for Bournemouth, played 15 times for Hibernian since January, scoring a couple of goals. Could be a decent option in terms of a replacement for Kelly, offering some experience and depth

Genuine question not a dig @Saddlebrains

What percentage of players who visit a training ground end up being converted to a buy? And equally, what percentage of players in active negotiations actually end up signing?

Reason i say that, you mentioned Browne had visited the training ground earlier this summer? and i expect out of contract players, or those in demand do a tour of various teams in order to make sure they are making a good decision.

Does this leak necessarily mean he is at all close to signing?
