Well go check this out, then come back to me if you honestly believe Simms is better!

As for your stats BS, we would never of signed Gyokeres based off his "stats"
That's why we employ talent scouts!

There's nothing like a five-year old YouTube reel of Danish Superliga highlights to prove someone wrong when they tried to show up your argument with actual facts

WAtching those highlights, and theres a lot of similaritis between him and Simms.

Looking at stats, and theres a lot of similarities too...

Wasn't Simms linked with a move elsewhere? could be due diligence for if he moves on

I've said I think Riis would be a good signing but I also watched that lad and I'd defo say him all day long now over Riis now, would excite the fans

I would sign Riis as competition for Simms, not a replacement for him.

I'd let BTA go personally out of any of the forwards we've got.

Just fuckin No.

Doesn’t offer anything above and beyond what we already have.

Typical City fans who never look at bigger picture and only see what happens when they play against us.

I think both sides of this argument are guilty of not seeing the bigger picture.

There’s certainly something to be said about him managing to score goals in a pretty uninspiring and uncreative Preston team (some things never change / tale as old as time).

Would he be the answer or fit our system better than Simms? I have no idea to be honest.

Say what you want about Simms his passing is absolutely appalling. No point in having a striker who can win the ball if they can't then do anything with it because they just give it away. Lampard will want a striker with better link up play. Riis is not much better in that regard:

Simms:

Vs Riis.

If we signed Riis then I think I'd rather lose Simms than BTA.

Riis and Simms are more alike, BTA would give us something different (like v Boro off the bench, not that he puts in those performances every week though).

The fact Wilder wants him in at SUFC as a direct competitor to Kieffer Moore says that he's not the type of striker Frank will go for. We have one of those already that can't score in Franks system so you wouldn't have two of them surely? We need a younger Adam Armstrong type that makes intelligent runs in the box that creates opportunities and space for both him and others.

That was an unusual circumstance that suited him perfectly, but take your point

Agreed, Riis is better than Simms, but im not convinced hes the best option out there, what is in Riis's favour is the fact that hes a free transfer, so maybe we'd keep all the strikers we currently have and Riis will take Paterson's place, and Bassette goes out on loan. (Purely guessing)

That would still allow us to bring in another striker and sell one of Simms/BTA/Wright

Assuming Riis is a target man because he’s tall. He’s not that type at all.

46 goals for PNE, 3 with his Bonce.

EMC, Wright and Saka are the first choice front three. Riis would be a much better backup than Simms and BTA. Bassette needs to go on loan, possibly league 1, score a shitload of goals and come back.

Riis is a different type of player to Simms, he likes to use the wide areas and cut inside, use his pace and skill. He’s a lot better at defending from the front than simms and wins the ball 3x more often in the final third. He’s not a target man he’s just tall a bit like Wright he looks to use his pace and skill more

Here's a relevant stat for you, from the season just finished, so the most relevant, seeing as you clearly want the most up to date figures.

Ellis Simms 43 games 6 goals
Emil Riis 32 games 9 goals

Now fuck off.

Mate of mine is a Preston fan. Usually a pretty reliable scout. This was his response about Riis...

'I fucking hate him. Lazy lazy bastard when the chips are down or he wants a move. Needs 3 chances to score a goal. Terrible first touch. Only tactic is to twat the ball as hard as possible.

On the plus side, he’s got the capability to win a game for you out of nothing. He’d be a good impact sub for Cov. On a free he’s a no brainer as a play off team sub striker'

Sounds like good business if we are looking to move one our bench options in Simms or BTA off and sign Riis to replace.

I think he’d be good for depth if we lose one of Simms or BTA

His goals to xG ratio is pretty much 1:1
