As was Dovin and Kitchin. Don't write Bassette off just yet.

Neither Dovin nor Kitching were in the starting XI that Lampard inherited. They both became first choice. Whereas Bassette started the two games immediately before Lampard took over.

Remember the eulogy from Lampard about Sakamoto? Players need to train hard and catch the manager’s eye with a good attitude? I suspect that Bassette was the subtext there.

I’m sure he’d jump at the chance of that.

Hi Emil, we would like you to replace Bassette. The lad that didn’t make the match day squad in some weeks and who was an unused sub in most. Sound good?

This guy will be joining a team who want him as their star striker. Not to replace our 4th choice striker.

Few on here are fuming that it's an actual link now when it would quite obviously be a smart signing.

If you read the comments on that X feed from PNE fans it doesn’t exactly strike confidence he will be any different to what we already have.

Whether it's us or not, in all likelihood he'll end up at a better club than PNE. So all I really take from that is their 'X' fans are just as stupid as most other clubs' 'X' fans. Including our own.

Lampards basically said you need to show me a bit more, prob thought he’d be the main man after the spurs game, maybe a bit of reality check for him, might be just what he needs,

I wonder if fans look at your posts about Simms and think you’re stupid?

Yes im sure thats how recruitment works. Tell him he is only going to play if 3 others are injured. There is a thing called a squad now im not sure if you heard of it.

I'd be very disappointed if he was brought in as our starting striker. Hopefully this would be just for depth.

Assume he would come in to replace BTA and be a rotation option

You're making yourself look like a tit with the way you're talking to folks about this kind of stuff. No one here knows f*ck all in the grand scheme of things or we'd have jobs in football instead of posting about it.

Riis isn't some gotcha that shows you're a genius, and you've not shown or explained what's unique to him that means he'll be more effective in Lampard's system than some players we already have.

Don't give it the intellectual biggun based on a vid of him scoring a bunch of rebounds and 'he scored 12 & Preston were sh*t!'. Asante had about the same output before he joined from a low scoring side.

Nah sorry, the people that got all butthurt at suggestions like Riis made themselves look like tits. Some got quite angry about it too. It's just opinions on players..
Don't take the moral high ground when it comes back at you.

Rather lose Simms out of the 2, but still think both move on.

Think BTA stays as long as he's happy being a bit part player

From what was going around in Jan it sounds like he's not. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

45 appearance, 12 goals, seriously? Simms, Wright and Assante have a better strike rate!!!

, he scored against spurs and sheff Utd, not bad in your first season for a 19yr old, think he got a bit ahead of himself but like lampards said, it’s a quality squad and there’s good players ahead of him, needs to show he wants it

He lacks awareness and nous but he's only young . He has a lot of other natural attributes to be a decent striker

My opinion is he would not be an a improvement on what we already have. This is a big summer for us and i hope we would be already down the line on realistic higher level targets.

BTA scored against Spurs. Bassette did assist and have a generally good game though.
