Aye but he’d be an option off the bench rather just bringing on full backs or centre mids.

Clearly Lampard doesn’t agree. There is also the chance that he’s just not good enough full stop.

I sympathise with wingers tbf since the refs let players kick chunks out of them so no wonder they get injured.

I’d be curious to see which position picks up the most injuries across the English professional leagues.

Either way, not close yet and this is why we needed a back up. Hopefully sorted for January

He is deffo a 60 min player.

Asking him to more, twice a week at times, isn’t sustainable.

32 games will have put you in the top 250 in the Championship last season for appearances so that's top 10 per side on average.

It's a bit rich to be labelling anybody hitting those sorts of targets consistently as "injury prone" in my book.

If he's going to make it here he really needs to be one of the best players in his position in league one. Same goes for others out on loan like Obikwu.

I think its a characteristic of a wingers in the play we play. Both Tats and EMC are often missing for one reason or another.

We missed him last week & possibly will again , against Blues this weekend.
But our crosses aren’t the best from either flank .

Is it fairer to say our crosses aren't the best or is it more likely that Wright isn't great heading and prefers through balls and cut backs?

I think the lack of attacking back up players on both flanks is a concern, its not that he's injury prone its the fact that if we had cover for both him and Tats no one would be worried. It needs addressing either by spending or bringing a couple through from the prospects at the club. The lack of kids able to break through points to how urgently the club needs a grade 1 academy to attract a better level of Junior players.

Begs the question how a player like Jeremy Monga ended up at Leicesters academy and not at Allen Higgs.

They were PL and recent PL champions with top class facilities. We were in L1/2 and didn't even have a stadium to play in let alone a decent training ground.

Wright can’t head a ball , whereas Simms can , so our threat from open play is only Rudoni .

Sadly, it's looking less like Liam Walsh, and more like Tennai Watson.

Promising early signs for Obikwu so far.

However, if they were still in the PL, there's not a chance he'd have come on as a sub on Saturday. He'd either still be in the U23s or out on loan at L1/L2.

However, to suggest a youth player would shun us because we were in L1/L2, we had a high success rate of players coming through to the first team from our academy.

Callum Wilson.
James Maddison.
Lee Burge.
Jordan Shipley.
Ben Stevenson.
Josh Eccles.
Tom Bayliss.
Jordan Ponticelli.
Fabio Tavares.
Jordan Willis.
George Thomas.
Ryan Haynes.

There's probably some I've missed. But that is a very high percentage of players coming through our youth system and making the first team. Granted, Monga will no doubt go on to be better than the vast majority of those players. But in the same time frame, players from Leicesters youth turning out for their first team, I would say, are less than half that amount. We didnt have a PL training ground, but we did have a clear pathway for youth players to reach for the first team.

Made even worse by King not being prepared to stump up for a replacement. It's not fir on FL.

That's the root cause of the issue.

By this logic, Walsall’s academy would currently be more attractive than ours because it offers a clearer path to first team football.

Young players, quite naturally and understandably, want to play for the best team they can.

Does the Walsall academy have a clearer path? Or are you just using them as an example as they're in L2? Or have they bought through players to the first team?

I dont think the pathway from our academy atm is to be sniffed at. Callum Perry and Kai Andrews are showing that.

Also, I agree, players naturally want to play for the best teams, but that's something only the top 5% achieve. A player can start at Man City youth amd work their way down to L1. Or, like Maddison and Wilson, start in L1 and work their way up. If youre a good footballer, you'll get to the right end either way. And surely a team that is going to offer you first team football early on in your career, is better than one that'll keep you in the U23s til your contract runs out then your begging L2 teams to take a chance on a 23yo with no first team football experience

Well it kind of depends.

Some of the wages some teams will pay for these young players are ridiculous - they can be earning as much as first teamers at a Championship club. So if they can earn more at a top club than they would do at one lower down (especially given the fickle and uncertain career of a footballer and how many promising youngsters don't make it) then they're going to do that - they can always go out on loan for experience if they want. Plus if they don't make it at that top club they can often find at least one more club after purely due to the coming through at a top club. Coming through at a L1/2 club doesn't have the same draw.

Take off the sky blue glasses and it was overwhelming clear it was in his own interests to go to Leicester at the time.

EMC does seem to be injured a lot. It’s as if he’s almost over conditioned. There are loads more injuries in the game nowadays and yet facilities are far better. There are obviously some very talented salesmen around when it comes to things like ice baths and cryo-chambers. It’s all nonsense.
