Yes. Do you understand the difference between a guilty plea and an innocent plea? And what a jury trial is?

I absolutely do. I am also confident the media witch hunt and the condemnation of his actions would have been much more severe and would probably have influenced the jury’s decision.

Surely, you cannot seriously say that what he did was not inciting violence? How a jury can watch that video and come to that conclusion is mind boggling.

Yeah I think Juries are well known to be light on this sort of crime. Though I think talking to a group of activists who have no record or violence and being part of a mob breaking into a hotel and trying to burn it down during nationwide riots are still slightly different contexts. Personally I’d have sent both down. But you keep excluding the fact that this stuff operates differently when riots are ongoing as a priority is a fast and hard response to shut the disorder down.

A councillor who would have more influence than most got on a microphone telling people to slit throats… I don’t care who the audience are.

Was he guilty in your eyes?

Oh yeah everyone’s out there waiting for a councillor to give the word

I’ve already said I’d have sent him down. Will you finally address the difference in context between ongoing violence and not?

“why are all these people who have made a long and dangerous journey of thousands of miles across lots of countries often facilitated by people smugglers all to eventually send money home not retirees, children and hot young women?”

I don’t care about the context. They’re both as bad as each other.

were they? if you read the link Shmeee posted Lucy Connolly's brief explains in great detail that told her exactly what would happen if she pled guilty.

But clearly guilty people are usually advised to as it knocks time off the sentence. It was a shock that Jones was found not guilty and his risk paid off but if he was found guilty he'd be in prison longer than if he'd pled guilty.

Hopefully a retrial as the judge is a diversity and community relations judge who would of directed the jury to give a not guilty verdict. Absolute joke. Two tier at it's finest

Right. So me saying “I’ll kill you” under my breath about my girlfriend fucking me over in a boardgame is as bad as a stranger screaming “I’ll kill you” as he lunges at her with a knife because context is irrelevant and I’ve probably got more influence over her than a stranger.

Be serious man.

Anyone part of a mob attacking police and trying to murder hundreds and destroy millions of pounds worth of property is not the same as someone being a prick in a crowd of activists with no record ever of violence. And you know it. And if it wasn’t your side you’re desperately trying to defend you wouldn’t pretend otherwise.

90% of the law is context FFS. You want to get so irate about it maybe spend some time reading up?

You can’t be tried twice for the same crime. It’s called double jeopardy.

Now you’re just being ridiculous.

One, it’s not a crime to mutter under your breath that you want to kill someone. Inciting violence by having a public call for the slitting of throats is, the same as planning to set fire to an Islamic centre.

Are you a lawyer? Or from a law background?

Just on this, if two tier doesn’t exist…

Why do people get longer sentences for deleted tweets that don’t harm anyone than someone who sexually assaults children?

Genuine question, and I am neither pro nor anti immigration. Purely playing devils advocate.

What relevance is Haji to boat crossings? I assume you mean his skin colour but from what I’ve read etc it is nothing to do with skin colour and more to do with the fact that a good number of the people arriving by boat do not want to integrate into our society. Also worth noting that crime rates per capita from the countries of origin a lot of these people in the boats come from is massively disproportionate.

Do they not want to integrate, or does sticker boy not want them to. It's probably a rallying call as I've seen something about them all going off on one of their football lads jollies to London

But every example falls well within sentencing guidelines and where it doesn’t can be appealed. Attacking judges is just a cop out. These legal system is built so you can appeal. If all the judges are agreeing maybe you just misunderstand the law?

Yes we prosecute harder during ongoing street violence just like the road men stealing rice in 2011. This is all standard practice. Again welcome to protest politics.

So it’s guilt by association then?

No I just play one on the Internet. But I can read sentencing remarks which seems to put me ahead of most.

You’re onto it though. Why isn’t it a crime to mutter under your breath? Death threats are illegal no? Because for communication to be considered malicious the likelihood of the victim hearing it and believing it matter. For incitement to violence the likelihood that violence matters. Which is why you can’t just go “he shouted and he shouted so they should be treated the same”

A slit throat gesture is digesting. I’d have sent him down and I think a jury made the wrong decision but one that’s consistent with these kinds of jury trials. However if we’re honest there’s no reasonable expectation from either side of violence and you know it. It’s hyperbole among peers.

Forming a mob and attacking police and trying to burn down a hotel with people inside means shouting has far more impact.

I’m not even arguing one should be guilty and one innocent I’m saying the comparisons are apples and oranges. Like me finding a shoplifter in 2012 who didn’t get sent down and one during the 2011 riots who did.

I tell you what I’m against, I get the boats are obviously a major issue. But not once have they offered a solution. Other than “send them back” - send them back where? We don’t know where they’re from.

but park that, does anyone ever look at their voting patterns with anything else? The major erosion of our workers rights and daily life is what alarms me… a vote for reform - Lowe, Tice and Farage is a turkeys voting for Xmas vote.

Same as the councillors making Palestine their single issue…. Yeah I hate seeing kids blown up but frankly, my number one priority is how mine and my family are going to be helped by government is my major concern.

I’m also alarmed at the US Christian lobby groups being major funders for Farage. If you’ve got a daughter this should alarm everyone
