Robin's record

Robins' record does need someone like you to defend it, otherwise it gets
tarnished which would be a traversty. Keep up the good work.

I do hope so really keep his confidence high and make Wright and Co to have to really work to get back in the team and perform when they are on the pitch

See the simms slaters were out in force before our winner yesterday. A lot of fans have a really misguided view of a strikers role. A lot of our goals are now coming from midfield and so Simms job to facilitate that is just as important if not more important than him scoring. It was the same as when Biamou used to play. He rarely lost a header/Duel and brought others in to play but got slated. I think as a CF he is doing all the right things

I think Simms made a nuisance of himself yesterday and that does pull defenders out of position.

Not a great game from him, but he played an important role.

He was popping up all across the front line yesterday much like vik did. I think Lampard has addressed his work rate and it really does show

He had 12 touches and a 33% pass completion rate .. he won 5 from 8 duels and lost the ball 5 times .

He wasnt in the game and plays nothing like vik

Hes scored 6 goals 2 assists in 33 league appearances and that includes 20 starts

Difficult one for me. We need more goals and more pressing from that position in the style we play, but the job he is doing in creating space and bringing others in, we don't have anyone better and the shape looks stronger with him in it. If we could get a few million back and a suitable upgrade, he's one I think we could change in the summer.

Good player. Think hes gonna benefit with Wright coming in at left wing.

I have my opinion on him but I was told to get my eyes checked out.

I did and my eyesight is in pretty good shape.

Must be your lack of football knowledge then

(open goal, no idea if you're even for or against him )

As a team we put the most accurate crosses in to the box in the entire league , the bloke is 6 ft 3 .. as a team we've also missed the most amount of big chances in the division and ellis is underperforming his expected goals by a fair margin

All I will say is again , we need more or we will have to replace in the summer

Was left way too isolated yesterday, needed other forwards to get a lot closer to him. I thought Mason Clark didn’t look quite right and was constantly on his heels…it was only after the game that I heard he came into yesterday with toe injury that forced him off

Purple patch striker. Always tough as a lone but he needs another kick from Lampard.

They are the exact opposite. Gyokeres would frighten defenders with his pace and presence. Simms is very timid.

Obviously from my comment I stated he was across the front line the same as gyokeres used to. If you took that to mean I think they're the same player then yikes

A lot of our crosses are to the back post for the opposite winger, or in the middle of the goal for box crashing players like Rudoni and Torp.

simms you often see is at the front post occupying defenders.

I doubt very much we are avoiding ellis simms purposely on crosses

Gyokeres didn’t run across the line - he’d get a long wide ball over the defence and use his power and strength.

I don’t see Simms do very much to be honest when he hasn’t got the ball (which he rarely has)

The thing is Evo, and where your argument is flawed is that when Godden was starting on our March to the playoffs last time you said it didn’t matter on his output as he was contributing to a team winning games.

Ellis Simms has started at number 9 for a team that’s won 9 out of their last 10

I saw a few times he was down the left and right as well as down the middle which isn't something we saw before lampard came in. He still has lots to work on but I can see an improvement in work rate

More he draws defenders with him allowing late runners space to get on the end of things

Edit - I don’t think yesterday was a particularly good game from Simms, just that there were reasons for it and it was a thankless task

Many people don't see this. They just judge a CF on goals. But as lampard loves wingers and late runs from midfielders, Simms is merely a distraction for defenders because, like our fans, they think the cross will be aimed at him

Ellis simms has scored 6 league goals in 33 appearances this season , he had 12 touches yesterday and couldn't pass the ball to a teammate .

He barely even covered ground or ran around ??

It’s not unreasonable to expect more goals from your number 9 tbf, many strikers are judged on goals, they’re the big earners.

Tbf this obviously works if even our fans are querying why simms doesn't score more headers

No you're currently ignoring the issues of a current player because I gave godden praise .

Thought you wouldn’t have the stats.
We’ve won 9 out of 10 with him as the number 9.

no issues in my opinion.
