One of these days he'll get a hatrick that counts but today he didn't need to!

Lampard said he needed to start using his attributes. Being dropped is a good way to motivate someone to improve so no point now saying oh he should have played from the start

It's worked out this way for a reason when it comes to Simms imo

He must have been gutted with Lampard coming I given he’s who shipped him out of Everton but he’s got him believing in himself.

Lack of belief is what holds him back sometimes but Lampard is an excellent motivator and has him playing at the top of his game.

Simms is a top class striker at this level if used and managed correctly. That includes formation.

I do wonder however how Simms, Wright and EMC can fit in a front 3 based on the fact that Wright was due to play down the middle once EMC had settled and taken his place on the left.

Does EMC move to the right to allow Simms through the middle and Wright on the left ?

Its going to be interesting

There's been quite a few on this site declaring just how shit he is, over many threads.

Always struck he that he was a confidence player and when he's low on confidence, he looks distinctively average. But when he's good, he's very good.

He went on a very decent run of goals last season and really hoping he can do the same again now.

So glad he's found some form again.

If we can get one of Wright or EMC playing effectively on the right a front 3 of EMC Simms & Wright is going to take some stopping.

We get glimpses of what he’s capable of, he just has to do it consistently.

If he performs like today, in half of the seasons games, he gets 20 goals easily.

No, Lampard recalled him from his loan at Sunderland to be part of the first team squad at Everton.

They do have a beard oil. Simms reminds me of a young David Bellamy ( youngsters will be thinking whose he ).

Simms was sold to us when Dyche was manager? Lampard gave Simms his first sub appearances and whilst he may have loaned him out, it’s not the same thing as being sold.

I'll be honest even I'd lost patience with him and I'd been one of his biggest defenders.
But at some point he is going to have to stop this 2 month Van Basten 2 month Bakayoko routine and be a bit more consistent.

Hopefully what we're seeing now is the start of it.

He was superb yesterday.

Thought he dominated his duels with their CB, and gave us a real outlet.

2 goals without much being created for him, and unlucky with the one ruled out.

He’s so good and so much potential too.

I’m convinced his introverted personality is the reason he isn’t a fan favourite and is often on the boo boys list.

Anyone still crying for the bloke who runs around a lot and points for the ball in impossible places?

This is where I was at.

But when you see him focus on what he’s good at, he can be great. He’s another one I really like and want to do well. I like that he’s just a normal quiet bloke.

I think the difference of late is that he doesn’t have to score to play well. He used to be anonymous in games, now he’s minimum a handful for their defence.

Yup. Don't wish to name names, but we know who many of them were.

Simms has always shown there is something about him, to my mind. It was just clear that when he lacked confidence, he would snap at shots more and run down blind alleys, losing the ball.

When he is on his game, his layoffs are much better and he just looks sharper

Mr Lampard is doing an excellent job in making him into the player he is destined to become.

Well hopefully, though we've been here before with Simms.
If he carries on in this form though it does increase the Wright/EMC conundrum

Many were assuming a return to 4 3 3 with Wright through the middle and EMC left when both were fit but Simms is undroppable in current form.

He won 4 out of 17 duels yesterday so hes still not using his strength and height anywhere near enough and had a 60 % pass completion rate

My definition of very good differs from other people's and his general play still needs much work but if he scores 2 goals a game whilst playing like that then hes won us the game and I'd take that every week

I gave him MOTM yesterday because his goals won us the game

Realistically with 13 games left of the season and Wright coming back from 3-4 months out he isn’t going to be starting many games. It’s going to take a while to get going. So Haji becomes an excellent option off the bench.

There’s no way Wright is on the bench for the rest of the season.
