Don't like that at all and agree that it is creepy.Basically you get an elf and put it on the shelf, and tell the kids he is Santa's spy come to live with you until Christmas as he is checking if you've been good and deserve presents. You move the elf around so thr kids think its moved by itself by magic. You might even put a little magic 'elf' door on your skirting board. Just seems really creapy to me.
The adults do 'witty things' with them and take photos and out them on Facebook......hilarious...

It was all new to me. Have done a bit of research and a lot love the concept, but quite a few people find it creepy.The kids at my wife's school love it.
Exactly! That's why I told my daughter at 4 that Santa didn't exist.My daughter does the elf on a shelf for my grand-daughter, and the little one loves hunting for him in different places every day. First thing she thinks of when she wakes up, so gets up straight away without a fuss to start the hunt.
They soon grow up to become argumentative so and so's like us, so why not extend the "magic" as long as you can?
