Haven’t seen this mentioned on here yet. The Elite League announced this week they’re suspending this season for an indefinite period (last season was declared null and void despite there being only a few games left). Worrying times for the Blaze and all the other pro clubs in the country.

Indoor . Would think it will be one of the last to come back

I think at some point government will give in to all sports and release restrictions

Trouble is they'll do that, there will be an infection so teams won't be able to play and games will be postponed. So still no income but now got to cover losses from all the associated cost and infrastructure set in place for the games to take place. And I imagine insurers aren't big on giving out policies covering postponements at the minute.

Or we just end up ignoring test results and carry on and let the disease spread like wildfire.

Its the best solution, the league can essentially mothball and come back when this is all over. The vast majority of players are on contracts that only see them paid during the season so by not starting up you reduce the playing budget to zero. The number of full time employees at most clubs could be counted on one hand, they'll be on furlough at the moment but obviously that will end soon. Most clubs don't own their own rinks, they hire the ice time so again no training and games, no expenditure.

The ones who may be in trouble are the ones whose rinks are either self owned (Fife), or owned by a property developer (Glasgow), the others are either publicly run, huge multi use arenas or owned by either Planet Ice or Silverblades. They should all be OK.

Owner of the Blaze was on CWR after our game this week. Said one season off is not a problem, if it stretches into multiple seasons there could be an issue. Worst scenario would be contracting a full squad, flying them over, getting them housing etc and then having to stop again.

A while back there was an expert on the radio describing the ideal conditions for the virus to survive and spread. He might as well have been describing an ice rink, cold, damp and with a large number of people in a close proximity to each other.
