Further analysis & trawling through other posts on Twitter etc & it is clear that this would cause a huge raft of issues that will be ongoing for years;

13 team playoffs - odd number of teams making format difficult, will take a long time to complete when we're trying to say playing on isn't feasible, team finishing 2nd possibly losing out on promotion to team in 14th!? Real integrity...

Reduced funding for teams already at the financial precipice if no relegation (solidarity payments split with upto 3 extra clubs)

Odd number of teams again leaving blank matchdays & teams never being on same Games Played

Abandoning/shortening of Cup Tournaments = Reduced income

We're still waiting on their actual league tables & analysis but I suspect the reason they have used 3 seasons for the margin of error rather than 5, 10, 20 is because it's that one that best suits their own agenda.

I do feel sorry for them, but the huge upheaval to the whole football pyramid just to suit Tranmere will, rightly, not be given the time of day.

I think if you do the whole league it means even Bristol down in 14th are in with a shout so it would be a 13 team play off.
A relegation play off would be interesting.
Lose the first game and you have to play another game against another losing side. Lose that and you're relegated.

Yes. And also in addition to getting relegated, you get to go broke and go into administration as well

I couldn’t give a fuck personally. About any of them. I wouldn’t expect any of them to give a fuck if we were in the same position either.

Let me guess. Tranmere make the play-offs as well?

I think personally Tranmere have a strong case. The impact of relegated teams in my view is much bigger than NOT getting promoted.
Under the circumstances I don't think clubs should be relegated under PPG. I suggest just expanding the leagues as Tranmere have suggested and reduce over time. However 'the elephant in the bathroom' (is that the phrase?) is that its sets a precedent for the Premier League to STOP relegation and not have promotion.

There is a case for Bolton, Southend and Norwich being relegated and Stevenage perhaps. Those first three have had seriously bad seasons. We have shown ourselves so often the years that you can put a run together and stay up. Every chance Tranmere would have escape in the virus has not taken hold. Very unfortunately, our East Midlands rivals, won 7 out of the last 9 in 2015 to stay up, eclipsing all our dramatic escapes.

It was great at Tranmere in January, so I wish them the best.

Part of me thinks that the EFL are delaying this as long as possible so it’s not feasible at all to restart. The Pompey CEO has acknowledged that player contracts are going to be an issue

This has been taken off the table. There is a solution, they either play or it’s points per game

Hearts have come up with a proposal in Scotland to have 14 team leagues. By some coincidence, that proposal would mean they aren’t relegated.

I think we need a proposal for a PL of the top 46 teams.

That’s my least favourite of the lot. Just admit you are wildly guessing. “If I’m wrong I’m right as well because I’ve already said I’m happy to be proven wrong so either way I’m a hero”

Would be interested to see a financial breakdown for a club such as Tranmere comparing a struggling season in L1 with a promotion chasing season in L2. May be wrong but I suspect the difference is not huge.

My least favourite are the compassion from a team x fan. Almost as if the fact they support someone else and can show empathy is worthy of massive kudos rather than basic humanity.

This average performance over the past three seasons is plain nonsense, and goes against everything football is about. Even in normal times you have teams that have a freakily good season, or one that is freakily bad. It doesn't mean they don't deserve to go up or down under the rules. As has been said, Tranmere dreamt up that plan because it suits THEIR agenda only! Fuck off!

The entire thing is a nonsense that they've clearly come up with to try and avoid relegation.

Does it take into account if you were in a higher/lower division? If not then that would be a big factor. If you'd spent years just staying up in a division above that would reflect the division you're in now. Similarly if you'd spent years in a lower league but always just missing out it isn't going to reflect the likelihood of your ability to gain points in the higher division. Besides which some teams just have terrible/brilliant seasons that go completely against the norm.

It says promoted so I'm happy, ideally they use it and Tranmere play off for a relegation as Palios has accepted and they then lose and still get relegated

Can't believe the Wirral MPs have written to the EFL saying it's unfair to relegate anybody (really shouldn't be getting involved)

I believe that no decision means the season gets finished. It needs a rule change to get null and void

I see the PL has been given until September to finish the season. New season start date pencilled in for 12th September.
