Not true. Peterborough College of Further Education have also done a prediction... and in that table Peterborough end up as champions.

I’ve been laid back about all this there isn’t a perfect solution other than playing out the remaining games but as has been said there are complications to doing that. As for our position apart from null&void promotion is certain, but part of me is now saying “fuck em” let’s play. We’ll stuff the lot of them with or without O’Hare, Walsh even McCallum, only have to win five out of the ten remaining matches we can then ram MacAnthony’s protestations right back down his throat, as for Tranmere they are where they are for reasons over 35 matches they weren’t good enough, on a little run just before shut down but then after a poor spell so were Wycombe at the other end.

Instead of weighted points per game, how about points per weighted game? Every player is weighted like a handicap horse race according to their abilities. Under this scheme, Lee Burge actually has weigh removed and consequently is able to float around the goal.

So cubs could go bust. But we are just gonna come up with a nutty solution that over complicates the play offs and saves us

This guy explains it well. a long thread if you can be arsed to read. But it just makes things overly complex and pointless

In amongst all this noise, waffle & horseshit about different PPG coefficients etc. can someone confirm what date the clubs finally vote & this gets concluded? Anyone?

No, because it hasn't been confirmed yet. The rumours suggest the EFL are meeting today and a date of Monday will be put forward as the preliminary vote (vote by the entire EFL to change the rules and allow for relegation/promotion etc). We then still have to a have a League One vote on PPG or play on. There isn't a date anyone can confirm yet. I imagine it will be dragging on for a few weeks at the least.

Adjusting PPG to take into account how teams performed at the final stages of previous seasons is nonsensical as most, if not all, would have been radically different teams at the end of last year to their current make up. We didn’t have Dabo, Markosi, Walsh, O’Hare, McFadzean etc so how does the way we finished last season or the season before affect in any way how we would have finished this year? It doesn’t.

From my understanding, we're promoted regardless so can't be accused of bias but...

By the calculations somebody else posted earlier, we'd end up with approximately 13 teams in the playoffs - EFL have already (rightly) stated there will be no extended playoffs.

If we went with their no relegation proposal we'd end up with 27 teams in one of the leagues next season. Clubs already complain about playing too many games so how would this work?
Additionally, god forbid, we have a second spike in the virus, or indeed anything else curtails the following season, we could end up with 30 teams in one league?

It's both amazing and saddening to see the likes of Tranmere and Posh trying everything to get a lifeline for their seasons. Palios' words may come back to bite her as she's saying other clubs may fold but she's happy to expedite that by forcing everyone play on in empty stadia this season for her own selfish goals. Wonder how many of those clubs on the edge are seeing that and are considering voting against her in spite ? At least Dmac seems to be backing off his tirade from a couple of weeks ago. Or he's blocked so many people from Twitter, he's now only talking to himself.

Crazy thing is that if they'd fixed things earlier and actually started performing on the pitch, they wouldn't be in this mess. It's like Sunderland blaming us for relegating them in '77, despite them having a bad season and then losing the vital last game which could have kept them up.

All I know is that I wear my home shirt under a jumper/ fleece every day to try and bring some kind of good fortune, and its not being changed until this is done. I might stink a bit if it ends up being June, but thats a small price to pay

I know it won't happen because of money at the top end, but I think they need to be putting all effort into thinking about next season and what can be done to ensure clubs survival and get next season on. So much dithering and we are now nearly into June getting into a position where the current season will end just before the new season would be due to begin.

good article.
No sympathy for clubs that have "remortgaged the house" to chase promotion. There are no guarantees.
I'd have played out the season if it could have been done by the end of June but just doesn't work past there. All you're doing is "kicking the can down the road".
Receiving advanced monies bow etc. is ignoring realities of what is bound to happen in the near future. Clubs cannot replace lost income.
If the season resumes it's lost its "sporting integrity" as so many clubs will be fielding very different sides from those they started the season with - generally much weaker sides.
At least Nicola Palios realizes we're going to lose teams if things resume. I haven't seen everything said by the big 6 etc but not sure I've seen anything from them that addresses the issue of the possibility of losing clubs if the season resumes. If the likes of Posh & Fleetwood have overreached them selves on wages that's their own fault. Clubs like Accy & Burton (and others) have tried to compete whilst managing their budgets and would have got through a normal season. They don't deserve to be sacrificed for the self-interest of others.

You don't get it, sadly. They DELIBERATELY play crap at the start, then play to their true form (for reference, think Brazil 1970) from March onwards to get their deserved glory.

In short, WE are the stupid ones for not seeing this, and anything less than Tranmere getting the 4th Champions League spot would be a disgrace.

PS. Remember 2 tone day? They were that crap at the start that the ref (play on, no pen) and Godden took pity on them. Then, near the end...

Which is strange because we’re pretty good on FM20. The AI got us promoted twice, albeit via the playoffs.

I'm not sure how Football Manager works to be honest, but Sky Sports obviously deemed the prediction worthy of a web post.

That's how it would look(ish) if that makes sense.
Couldn't be bothered to do the whole league.

Edit - Obviously it's complete nonsense, But I like to give the old brain a bit of exercise every now and again.

How the fk do you have a 7 team playoff for 2 promotion positions... i mean what this does show is what we already knew - Rotherham were not odds-on to get promoted automatically but I can't see this working.

There is certainly a reasonable argument to have those 4 teams at the bottom play a losers playoff....

I think if you do the whole league it means even Bristol down in 14th are in with a shout so it would be a 13 team play off.
A relegation play off would be interesting.
Lose the first game and you have to play another game against another losing side. Lose that and you're relegated.

But then Bristol Rovers are closer to Tranmere than they are to the current top 6 - so then they could just as easily be counted as a relegation side as a promotion side

Was thinking that, couldn’t you end up with teams in both promotion and relegation playoffs? Then what if they win the promotion one and lose the relegation one?

Wasn't there a deadline to resolve the leagues by today? For some reason have deadline date of 27th May in my head.
Or was that just the deadline for the EFL to come up with a proposal which they have already done?
Is there an absolute deadline date for this season to be concluded?
