Surprised the PFA is being so quiet about all of this particularly with so many members being out of contract at the end of June and in a very uncertain situation if they sign contract extensions to whenever the season would end.

D Telegraph saying decision two weeks away - said for some time that the PL restart will drive play or not to play

Am I right in saying that, if a Villa player playing for Coventry, hadn't missed a sitter against Birmingham in the last minute, who were playing away at their own stadium in the FA Cup, then in all likelihood Peterborough would be in the playoffs as opposed to Wycombe?

You couldn't make it up

Also to me reads like they may have changed their stance and vote for season to end from his vocabulary: "We're disappointed in this - but we will get a chance, we will get a play-off situation."

Well you could, because it is not true... Game was rearranged for March before the Blues game kicked off.

If its two weeks away. Will be zero time to play any games. Would be 2nd week of June before teams could be told to go to training then 4 weeks to get fit. So your looking at early to middle of July to restart at the earliest.

Despite what the EFL said yesterday especially the relegation issue I still think there’s a way to go yet. Reading the EFL statement the clubs in the promotion positions will go up 100% of that I’m certain happy days, , but their idea for the third promotion spot, fourth in league 2 to happen via play-offs i don’t think is certain. That then I believe brings in what happens with the Premiership. I still think there are big doubts they will or can play the season out which might then bring in the no relegation from the Prem and the division to be expanded but if they do that will it be to 22 or 23 clubs

From what I understand is that the EFL have a right to enforce full promotion and relegation on the Premier League regardless of whether they finish.

There's an increasing accumulation of reasons why finishing the season is looking almost impossible.
I was banging the drum for finishing but I just can't see it happening now.
Would love to have seen us do it 'properly' but There's bigger things going on in the country and the world at the moment.

It's also generally accepted listening to alot of chairman and managers that Coventry probably would have won promotion.. So it's not like we are spunking a promotion

..but there is no "only Cov go up" option. Because Rotherham are barely ahead of the chasing pack it is either Cov & Roth & PPG or Complete the season. How many points we are ahead of the other matters for nothing, only the gap Rotherham are ahead of the challengers. And that is minute. So we are dragged in.

No doubt we deserve it. No losses this year is incredible.
Would have been great to have been at the game when we clinched it but that's life.
I've said before, I think promotion could mean survival for us so you've got to look at the bigger picture.

2 weeks for a decision. Then training period is past the beginning of July.
Clubs aren't going to "unfurlough" players now on the off chance season may restart.

It was the first Birmingham game that caused the rearrangement, not the replay...

It just needs the hammer to come down and decision made. Clearly we go up. Others will be upset and Joey barton emphasises what each club visualises how they could have made a claim to passing Rotherham. But as he rightly says we have to move on and accept where we are. As for Sunderland it was a big ask for them to suddenly win around 5 or 6 of their 8 games to win promotion. can't see why they can have a case to be upset. Ipswich, Doncaster are clearly out of the reckconing. Peterborough for me are the one side who would feel the most agrieved if Wycombe are to leapfrog them into a play off position tbf.

Is this another potential curve ball. From the Telegraph.

The Daily Mail reports that some clubs are privately discussing the prospect of a Championship breakaway, which could escalate if the third and fourth-tiers do not resume, although any formal split would require endorsement by the FA and the Premier League.

Hopefully we sneak in before any "break aways"

Can't see it happening mind

You nailed it. If there was an option for Cov to be promoted and a playoff between teams placed 2-7 most teams (except Rotherham and Sunderland of course) would have voted for it and we would be done with the season. We would easily get the 51% majority needed. That would be the only way to satisfy Pboro, Fleetwood, Oxford, Portsmouth etc.

Whatever the outcome for the other teams is, what the management, group of players and the club as a whole have achieved this year, to have only lost 3 games, not lost this year, playing away all season away from Coventry and all the turmoil that's going on in the background (that's not affected the playing side of the club) has been absolutely outstanding and an incredible achievement.

So 100% play on so far seems to be

Oxford
Sunderland
Peterborough
Portsmouth
Tranmere

Gillingham, Fleetwood and Wycombe unclear

Might be quite close, closer than we think

wonder Oxford & Pompey fans feel about it. Peterborough certainly have players & particularly the fixtures to go past them.

Reckon when it gets to the secret ballot Oxford and Pompey might vote in favour of PPG. Suspect the Peterborough chap thinks the same as he's now calling for all votes to be made public.

Jesus Christ. I think I’m going to go as far as to say that is the worst website I have ever been on.

I think Wycombe will vote for PPG. I don't think they feel they have a realistic chance of an automatic place and this way they get a crack at the play offs.
The way Joey Barton is talking in that interview suggests he thinks they will be in the play offs so perhaps that indicates the way discussions with their owner have gone.
i think Gillingham will definitely want to carry on.

This I don't get as League 2 was supposed to have wanted curtailment which would not have influenced the League 1 decision. So if League 1 and 2 curtail, why should the Championship playing on cause problems ? Just means their promotion and relegation positions were accurately calculated, based on minutes on pitch vs points obtained whereas ours were based on who has the longest straw.

They only have to agree to rule change (1st vote... this will mean that if agreed and this happens in future, PPG will be the "rule") The division itself can choose its own course if needed (2nd vote)
Worry is our own division in 2nd vote. A lot are adamant they want to play on;
Although saying and doing is a different matter....

Ours is still based on minutes on the pitch and points obtained, just less minutes than originally intended.
