What are the supporters of Wycombe, Oxford, Portsmouth and Fleetwood saying on their forums ? I think their views will go a long way in these four guaranteed a play off place under PPG in which way they vote.

Looking at Oxford forum just now they would be happy to take a PPG scenario, the fans that is.. Let's hope the owners feel the same, the financial gain is far greater than the risk to continue and miss out imo

In 2018/19 solidarity payments from the premier league to the championship saw each club receive 4.65 million pound, league 1 clubs recieved 700k... I believe its risen to closer to 6 million this season for championship clubs

I think people will be surprised about how many clubs in the PO places would want to play on, they’re going to fancy going after the top 2

Bird in the hand though comes into it. Guaranteed 'semi final' play off or risk falling out of top 6. Yes - might catch top one (they will assume we are out of reach) but just as easily may drop out of it, Guaranteed 2 leg play off may mean TV money (other route equals additional costs). I reckon at least one or two of those guaranteed a 3rd to 6th place under PPG (especially Wycombe) will vote for PPG.

Yea form is out the window. But say the team in 5th turn up and their players don’t fancy it, they could so easily drop out of the top 6 all together. It’s a no brainer for all clubs apart from maybe Oxford and possibly Portsmouth for me. I feel Oxford are really the only likely team to challenge Rotherham. I cannot see Fleetwood risking it for the life of me.

The conversation they will be having will be if we restart and lose the first 2 games we could be well out of it.

If it was us in their position I would snap their hand off for a confirmed play off place and take my chances.

Risk losing a potential crack at 5-6 million minimum to flex your muscles and potentially fail... No chance

Can you imagine what 5 mill means to clubs like Fleetwood or Wycombe?

They all play each other too and not so much Peterborough

Those four clubs will be barmy to vote alongside Peterborough, they all play each other and Posh apart from away games against us and Sunderland away you couldn’t ask for a better run in fixture wise.

It works in the same way but it has become commonplace to leave out writing the probability factor if you tie the timeframe of games to games played instead of timestamping each of the games for the season.

Its a simplification. The RD only goes down now instead of partially increasing or decreasing for times between games.

It always tickles me because you can tell what sort of background the person is coming from by the way they lay out their figures.

For a chess rating system, no one in chess uses it in the way that is being shown by academia.

Edit.

So instead of having probabilities of where you might finish it's just getting to be commonplace to know the more games you play, the less your rating will move about.

This works especially well when you are playing regular fixtures like in a league setting.

You can see this in the animated bar chart below with the range of possibilities you can score getting less the more games that you play.

RD is important but it can be hidden away out of sight in this sort of setting.

Quick tip: This is how to know who are the newbies or not, on the way this information is set out.

The last 30 seconds hugely critical .
Sunderland and Doncaster significantly projecting at the start

Peterborough a mere 60ish in front

How can they assess with real confidence after such a delay .
Momentum shift highly probable IMO .

Absolutely correct.

In the proper Glicko-2 the RD will be lengthening because of the lack of gameplay. This makes the previous benchmarks for everyone's ratings a lot less stable.

I.e. It will move up and down more.

I would say though after all this PPG is the preferred method that CIty has opted for. This needs to be backed wholeheartedly.

Or get automatic as they were on a heck of an unbeaten run.

So they could fall out the places, or could get promotion. Momentum is lost now and it is a restart for all teams.

It is gamble. However, they are in the playoff positions and guaranteed a spot if the season is ended right now.

or take that run of form into a 3 game series rather than having to possibly hold it for another 9 games

You wont have to worry about the void as that is not on the table -It is understood clubs will now vote on whether or not they want the remaining matches to be played or for the League table to be decided on a points per game ratio

N&V will only be off the table when this mess is finally resolved, we're rightly crowned champions and promoted.
Until then it's just words and it will remain as an unlikely but still possible fall-back for the FL if they prove themselves as being incapable of taking responsibility and showing the necessary leadership...and so far they haven't shown much.
This is all about doing the right thing, the fair thing.
The longer the FL allow it to drag on and the more self-interested solutions are thrown on the table, the more the concept of right and fair gets lost and the more difficult the FL make things for themselves.
They’re allowing this to become a bigger mess than it needed to be and in the end this may come down to a question of how big the FL's balls are.

I did as well. Sure I read it somewhere.
There's an unmanagble amount of bollocks to wade through though so who knows what's really going on?

Is null and void definitely off the table? Have the EFL publicly stated that is the case, or is this just rumour and urban myth built up by wishful thinking on our part?

Shrewsbury confirmed as wanting the season to end.

So that's

Coventry
Rotherham
Shrewsbury
Burton
Accrington

All 100%

7 to go

I could be wrong but don't think I have seen it official for EFL (although I really don't think it will happen). I think the FA have said it was off the cards for the Premier League and people assumed that it would trickle down to EFL but I am yet to see that officially

5 to go.

I also think Pompey, Oxford and Fleetwood will take the playoffs and their posturing was about the possibility of promoting the top 3.

Don’t forget Rochdale, they want it over. I’d say Bolton and Southend aswell. Why pay 600k when you have to win 7/10 to at least have a chance of staying up

Yeah, Southend were trying for null and void but if that's off the table I think they'll just accept their fate. Rochdale are a definite.
