"I believe I was playing with Coventry at the time and I told some of my friends in England that this was a player worth looking at," Konjic said.

"When I first saw Edin I thought, yes, this is a boy that can go far. No one believed me at the time and I'm sure they regret this advice now."

He says he's sure someone regrets this now?? Truth is, they wouldnt!! We always seem to live on 'we could have's'. Just look at the Henderson / Carroll / Cork thing when Ranson left. Its no good living off these!

Plus, we'd have sold him by now (for a pittence probably).

Nearly missed gael?
Missed dzeko.
Missed carroll.

Is this the owners fault or is it poor scouting?

Didn't we miss out on Van Nistelrooy and Trezequet before they were considered world class?

My favourite related story is when the Blackburn chairman responded to a scout who had suggested a certain future world player of the year as a potential signing .....
"I don't think we need this Zinedine Zidane lad, we've got Robbie Savage."

I hate these fooking stories, like we're the only team who turned down the chance to sign a future quality player...Man Utd were offered Zidane when he was 17. so what? jog on, boring twonks.

We missed out on Carroll because SISU wouldn't stump up the cash.

Went Christmas carolling round Kenny Dalglish's place last night.

He told me to fuck off as he'd wasted enough money on Carroll's this year already.

'We missed out on the chance to be turned down by Carroll' seems more realistic. Lucky escape by Dzeko, we'd have beat the goalscoring out of him in no time.

But least back then we weren't bottom of the league at Xmas and 7 points adrift from safety

It was Tim Sherwood, not Savage.
