Absolutely slated him at the start in that cup game at Burton. He looked shocking.

However, through the season in his correct position he's been outstanding. More than happy to look silly.

Amazing penalty too.

I really like him. A bright future ahead. Great pen and I thought he looked decent when he came on too

The key thing for Eccles will be to make himself available for 40 games next season. He’s a good player

He's a good player and a really decent talent.

I got mocked at the start of the season for saying he'd be an important player this season.

Hopefully his injury problems are behind him and he can really kick on now.

Eccles posted an apologetic comment after an early season personal poor performance. That said to me his confidence was fragile. For him to step up for a penalty when he did showed how he has progressed mentally. I think he is a similar type of player as Sheaf and will hopefully keep improving. Future captain.

A good player no doubt who will get better imo. could fit into any of our midfield roles, future for him is going to be interesting I see him taking the Liam Kelly role eventually but even if we keep Hamer we need another top midfielder, maybe two and with COH coming back it will be interesting to see what Robins does.

yes- compare the look in his eyes compared to Dabo when walking up, under enormous pressure, and the comparative experience of the pair of them, that’s a great mentality

Good job he scored his pen. There's a few on here who'd be taking a run up at him

That could have been a game changer in terms of his career if he had missed. May have shattered his confidence-thankfully it was a great Pen, fair play too him.

Excellent player. As long as he stays fit I can see him playing in the Premier League in due course.

He's decent but with respect to him, I still put him in the category with Godden, Allen, Dabo etc. Solid Championship players but not enough to get you over the line for promotion. (Yes I know it was a kick away yesterday, but my point is there).

Without Vik and Hamer in that team, Allen and co would look a lot worse.

My only gripe would be he is sometimes knocked off the ball too easily, he should spend the summer in the gym and beef up a little

Really? A reasonable Championship squad player who can cover a few positions but Premier League player? Hmmmm…

Hamer unlikely and CoH won’t be back till Oct-ish. Problem is CoH is likely to have reoccurring injuries going forward and Palmer is similar.

Think he’ll probably end up in League one/two. Ok enough technically but lacks that bit of aggression and confidence you need

He’s a squad player for us, who is cheap because he came through the academy. Not a bad player but I don’t think he’d start week in week out for many, if any, championship sides.

He still is a little lightweight but he will only get stronger with age. Robins has said previously that he is technically very good. The goal he scored will give him confidence in that regard too.

Next season is key for him. At 23 he's not exactly just breaking through, he was a first teamer at St Andrews in League One, so has been around the first team for a while.

Definite progression this season, clearly a tidy footballer, but he can hide in a game, the play off semi 1st leg being an example of that.

Hopefully he can kick on again.

Agree with all the positive comments about Eccles. Got quality in possession, gets around the pitch/closes down well and the stats show when he plays we usually do well. If hamer does go (obviously none of us want this but almost certain he will) and players stay fit a sheaf, eccles, ohare and palmer box could be interesting

Happy to oblige. Nick's post is at the acceptable end of the spectrum as he at least makes no attempt to seem morally superior for changing his mind. Quite the reverse....

....and I think Eccles is a super player with a good temperament, who is best in a holding role. Reminds me of Ray Wilkins in both a good and bad way.

Next year we will see the best of him , think how far Sheaf has come on this season. I think Eccles will do the same next season. With the added bonus he can fill in other positions if needed as he’s got a good positional sense

His defensive stats are excellent, just needs to get on the ball more and improve ball retention.
