I would suspect a bit of manipulation for entertainment played a part in this.

I think there is something about habitual buying, people do get used to buying from one brand and wont change no matter the price. We personally go for whats on offer!!

Still a fair amount of snobbery as well.

I do the vast majority if my food shopping in Aldi and Iceland. Aldi in particular is excellent value, although admittedly Iceland's adverts definitely don't help its cause!!

Can't get on with Aldi, some good stuff but can never do a full shop. Still need Tesco or somewhere so don't bother

If I wasn't on a diet, I'd be trying it!

Experience of Iceland cheap pizzas and Asda £1 meals suggests no matter what the flavours, it'll be completely inedible however.

Asda £1 lasagne, now there was an obvious candidate for horse in hindsight.

Ended up costing me a fortune as the only way to eat it was to lace it with cheese and spices - would have been quicker and cheaper to just make my own!

See stuff like that I don't go near but the steak in Aldi is actually really tasty, as are the gammon joints and the frozen free beans, mixed veg are really good value as is your salad stuff, cucumbers, lettuce etc.

I also find that Aldi is always full of attractive Eastern European birds as well which is an added bonus!

I think you can buy shite ready meals at any supermarket, the fresh stuff at Aldi etc is okay, bread not great though. A lot of people eat for laziness and have a plateful of golden foods, others eat for speed and convenience and pay through the nose for the privilege. Each to their own and that...

If you throw booze into the equation 300 a week is possible based on 4 that's around 10 pounds a day.

Does seem high to be honest , they should try own brand stuff to make it smaller

That pig will last for almost a year. We can somtimes get a lamb from him, but only occasionally because he's trying to build up his flock.
