I understand many people's frustration with Eastwood.

However given our striker shortage he is at least worhty of a place on the bench imo. If Juke is fit then Sheff and him should start up top & Eastwood and maybe ROD should both be on bench as offer something different.

If Juke & Platt both still injured then given fitness I suppose I would start with Sheff and either Rod or Baker up top. Eastwood should then def be on bench.

Despite peoples opinions on his attitude he has been international class something which ROD & Jeffers will never be, for that reason alone should be above them in pecking order! Thoughts

International class?? Im sure he played for Wales, not Brazil.....

To answer your question though, if he came through todays game unscathed, yes, give him a spot on the bench. We need all hands on deck, which is what most people have said all season.

He'd probably play better for Cardiff. Seems the case with Gunnarsson

It's not the clubs fault - each player gets an individually tailored fitness programme that they need to do over the break, it's the players responsibility to keep eating right and to complete their fitness programme.

Shame hes not as professional as Lucas. He continued training all through the summer with his ex-Everton coach (Mick Rathbone) who later became our short term fitness coach for pre-season. And how that attitude and committment is paying off! Im sure if he hadnt continued with that training, we wouldnt have got half as much as we have got out of him so far this season! And to play on after so many knocks; the guy is a great assett, and shows the likes of Freddy (fitness and commitment wise) up.

Are you for real? Yes, the players you mentioned have quality, but that doesnt make the team / Nation quality?? Its Wales FFS!

I presume you maintain that Eastwood is International class as you didnt dispute this part?

It's obv has worked because last year juke was considered a lightweight and people were complaining that he got knocked off the ball too much and couldn't hold it up, how things have changed now.. Seems to have built some muscle and now gives as good as he gets. Doesn't rarely lose a header either, which I find quite surprising considering he's against players whose main job is he win headers and clear the ball .

wales did fantasticly under gary speed and if they can continue playing like they did under him then they will be a very very good team.

OK, their a nation who are progressing, but I still maintain they are not considered International Class (by me of course, not speaking for anyone else). And I certainly wouldnt consider Freddy Eastwood International class, no matter his nationality (Or his nans as it is!).

Its like saying Mifsud was international class because he was Malta's best player!!

sw88 I am not saying Eastwood is international class now by any stretch....however was he international class in the past....yes....he played international football for Wales and did well at some stages!

All our other strikers including the workhorse that flatters to deceive Juke will not make it to the full international teams mark my words..... This effectively means that Eastwood has played at a much higher level than majority of our squad, apart from Clingan.

Wales are a decent team now and were not atrocious when Eastwood played for them.

My main point was Eastwood should be on bench if Juke fit and arguably in start xi if Juke does not make it and Platt is not fit. People mock him for scoring a brace in the reserves but as we do not have a reserve team there is not much more he can do to earn a place in the squad. I would rather we have a player with his skill than a workhorse who carries little threat like ROD.

Anyhow good to see Clingan get some minutes, any news on injuries to Platt & Bell? What was the xi that played the reserve game today anyone know?

Mifsuds goal per game rating is easily international class.

sw88 I think you are confusing your interpretations......a player who has represented his country at full international level can call themselves "international class".....Now I think you mean "World class" that is a completely different matter.......however I would argue England have hardly any players as well not just Wales in that category! ...more's the pity

oh and obviously I do not think Fat Freddie is world class!.....if I came out with that you could lock me away and throw away the key! I just think he is on a wage and is worth a gamble this saturday ...even if only for 30 minute cameo!

Fair enough! I maintain, just because he's represented Wales (with a little help from his nan), IMO doesnt make him International Class. Not now, not when he represented them.

I agree with your other points. If fit, Freddie is being paid to do a job; we should let him do it. We've not seen much of him this season, and he's obviously decided now is the time he needs to buck up his ideas. If fit, he can still do a job (IMO he can be better than ROD and Jeffers without a doubt, but he needs to have his heart in it).

It is correct we dont have a reserve team and even if we did, that type of football is completely different to competitive football, so we should really wait to see him in the first team again, before deciding whether his CCFC career is over. Who knows, he might come back for the rest of the season and prove all us (I count myself in that) wrong!

Juke might make it to international level! His nans Polish isnt she?? He could use the same access as Freddie did with Wales

He most certainly isnt "world class" and if you were referring to that, I would be making sure that door was securly locked! Anyone who thinks this should not be allowed into the outside world. The men in white coats would certainly be on your case

Eastwood simply not fit...

...he went away to get fit but failed to turn up half the time...but should he get a chance regardless? 2 goals midweek yes but against who ?

Also I have on reasonable authority (which I can't say) that he is a disruption to the squad and not well liked.
It's known the players put money over the bar for family and friends and Freddies lot piss it up the wall before anyone else's family and invited friends gets a look in! Players are not happy with him and want him gone.

Now those of you who know me will also know I'm the last person to make stuff up. However this was from the horses mouth as they say.

Very unlikely he will get a start any time soon.

All this allegedly of course!

I've heard similar about him being a lazy git and not exactly a great dressing room member. I agree Paxo-he hasn't earned another chance. That said, who are we going to play up front? Last man standing and all that.

Frankly I'd rather have ROD, Jeffers or Platt - they may be sub-standard but at least they do try, unless Eastwood who has not turned up this season at all

Eastwood's simply not fit to wear our badge. Seems like another player only interested in the money. What has he done since "making the big time"?

Such a shame as on his day (when played in his proper position up front) he can be a good player.

I think we should play him. The others mentioned are crap.

His day was 6 years ago 1 goal every 7 games says it all.

20 goals in 141 games -- yes that is outstanding. Elliot Ward had a better goal ratio than that.
