Had to go through the cordon earlier, was bizarre when the siege was on but this was really surreal. Awful carry on.

It’s easy to think monster and much harder to face up to the monster in all of us.
I don’t think the statistics would show anything is worse than it was but each murder is bloody awful!
One thing is for certain these murders (if it is) are almost always possible to stop and decisions to reduce provision of adult social care, mental health services and an inability to recognise without continued investment and professionalism in social services we will continue to hear stories like this and we can do something about that. Heartbreaking for those dealing with the aftermath and of course the poor lad

Let’s care about our communities and look out for our families friends and neighbours

West Midlands Police have said that the 29-year-old woman whoe was arrested in Earlson last night was known to the boy who died.

A force spokesman said: "A 49-year-old woman - who is understood to be known to the boy - has been arrested and taken into custody for questioning."

Hope Hills ok, horrible thing to happen on your doorstep.
Was actually with someone who lives in the street and has young children when this was going on, terrible thing to try and have to explain to them.

Very true Pete. You can't continually cut, or even completely remove, services to support people and then be surprised when that causes issues down the line.

Obviously we don't know all the details of this horrible event at the moment but we do seem to be experiencing horrific events that could, and should, have been prevented more regularly these days.

Managed to get out and get to work this morning, had to come in today, and couldn't work from home.
Had to give my details to the police to get out.

Going to go and see my son tonight.

Something I don't understand, all the reports say police and ambulances called to the incident at 6pm, but I arrived on the high St at around 5.30 and there was already a couple of police cars on the pavement next to Whetherspoons, was that for another incident?

Not sure, I tried to get into the bottom of Poplar at about 6:05 and as there were cars leaving the street thought it would be fine but was swiftly directed round past the library. Turned into Newcombe road and the cordon was already setup up there. Parked up and eventually got in my house. Then they extended the cordon to the end of Newcombe not long after that.

A tragedy.
I think communication between adult and children services is often non-existent.

It hasn’t really, but Clint asked.

And to be fair it was more stating what the situation is for people coming and going from the area.

PICTURED: Five-year-old who was 'stabbed' to death in Coventry

A mother screamed 'my child, my child' as her five-year-old son was 'snatched and stabbed to death' in Coventry before a woman was arrested on suspicion of his murder.

Don't think so, just seems close to home because it's Cov.
Same at the little Polish lad and the two little lads who got ran over. Resonates when it's that close to home

You’re probably correct. Also seems more likely to mental health issue rather than social services issue. Heartbreaking
