The guy is regarded within the game as a decent shot stopper, however the command of his back 4 and area plus his catching have prevented him from playing above his current level. I know that barnsley and huddersfield have previously looked at him. This move could go either way.

I know a couple of Northampton fans who both laughed when I mentioned we were signing him. They think he's terrible, especially his kicking.

I'll be more comfortable with this signing once Murphy signs too

The thing is why would we need a second choice with ireland, surely he can't be good enough for the first team, he was second choice for Northampton...

I'm guessing that they still aren't convinced by Danny Ireland's fitness. Plus, they've said that he is likely to go out on loan this season.
They are just going to give him this season to prove he can step up, then if not, he will leave next summer.

I heard last time we were linked that he was second
Choice but I have had a look and he has played 98 games since 2006, but I still only see him coming to be a second choice, I think it's a huge step tbh

I feel bad for criticising the guy before he has pulled on a shirt as I'm usually advocating to give players a chance, but this is a worry.

Of course it's not the guys fault and I'm sure he will do his best but if he was a regular starter for his current side, I can't imagine he would move to a less than fashionable side to warm the bench, particularly as I doubt we are likely to be paying a kings ransom. I hope he is raw and trains on to be another decent keeper as I'm fearful that with no real budget, there is no Murphy and this is it for our number 1 next season.

Didn't we all have our doubts about a certain Mr Westwood when he signed - "Why are we buying someone from Carlisle?" "He can't be much good if Man City rejected him" etc. etc.?
I'll reserve judgement until I've seen him play. Even then, I'll probably give him a bit of rope until Oggy's had time to knock him into shape!

Westwood came as a £750k signing and was in the league team of the year for a side only one league below us and was their player of the season. In fact I don't remember any negativity about him. Dunn is not appreciated by a team two leagues below us and playing for a team that escaped relegation to the conference on the last day, so I remain sceptical.

I'm sure that Oggy was involved in the decision to go for Dunn, so he must have seen something that makes him think it's worth a punt. Let Oggy knock him into shape.

The potential is all there with him. It's a big step up and I hope he does well!

Set to sign today, with CCFC that means it might be done by the end of July then!

Just been browsing a couple of Northampton boards they don't seem to rate him very highly. :thinking about:

Think this one is definitely a case of having to wait and see. Not watched him before, hope he is another diamond that just needs polishing.

Are these posts made before or after he was expected to leave?

I'd rather us of kept Quirke than go for an average keeper 2 leagues below us. He's 4 years older than Quirke and has never been classed as more than decent. Quirke also already has experience of this League.

The whole keeping scenario with CCFC has confused me a lot this year......I hope it's not just a bunch of rash decisions based on the rule that keepers should be tall (Dunn is down as 6ft4, Ireland also 6ft4).

I can't see why we are keeping Ireland. It is a bit of a gamble paying his wages just to sit in the stands.

After his appearance last season it has made him go down in many people's estimations.
