Rosie Malones (The Dive) is an awesome night out... BOGOF on all drinks, decent music sometimes and live bands.

The best place to drink in the whole of the midlands has to be Inspire, though. European beer, great music 100% of the time, amazing food, awesome staff and fantasic historic environment. A bit pricey but well worth it.

You don't get any of the cheap, ignorant Spon St/Sky Dome crew there.

But a classic Cov night for me used to be Campbell or Gringos then down to the Coli on a Thursday or a Saturday. Thats now been replaced by a solitary visit to the Campbell if I feel the urge to dance.

WhiteFriars and the Beer Engine are cool as well.

The pub I miss the most is The Jailhouse.

Gringo's used to be class especially on matchdays. £1 a bottle of the orange drink WKD and a pizza. Remember the half caste fella, tall geezer who ran it. Shadow?

All the boozers gone over the years i remember

Stag
Greyhound (Jailhouse)
Hope & Anchor
Yates
Newt & Cucumber
Gringo's
Hand & Heart
Bar Coast
Courtyard

Shame

Well the new plans for the city centre look decent.
What gets me is that you go to any other city that is the similar size and they all have better shops.
Take peterborough for example not even half the size of coventry but when took a look round before the game it has a much more variety of shops!

Does anyone know anymore about the old royal mail sorting offices?
Last I heard was a large supermarket and gym was being put in place?

We used to hit Gringos for a pizza and then head down to the Colli. Hoping that you were dressed casual enough to get in. Loved that place on Thursdays it used to be mental. 2001-2003 was when I used to go. Twice a week every week apart from the odd night at the Dog & Trumpet for a bit of hardcore rock.

Mr Gs. Best club I ever visited in the late 90's.

Penny Black (£1 a drink), 3 Tuns, the Jag and then Gs (before 11 for cheap beers).

Cov Kebab house for a kebab and in a taxi home for about 2:30am still fresh for the next night. Awesome.

Anyone ever use the Irish 2000 club by the subway in Spon Street? It was commonly known as the "Bags Ball". You could chat to any female in there and end up with a shag for the night! ....... (er. not that I ever did, of course!!)

Studio 21 ! Great memories if you wanted to fight / shag this was the place , the bouncers were not as selective as to who they let in compared to Park Lane and The Parrot . Best memory was me and 5 fellow piss heads singing football songs on the dance floor when everyone else had gone and being " gently ushered out " by the nice doormen on the Friday before the 87 cup final .

The building is still there but it's not being used for anything at the moment that I know of. It's the only place I've ever known where you were guaranteed a touch if you weren't bothered what they looked like. I tended to observe others week in week out.

I remember two big birds who we had nicknamed the "Swamp Sisters", they were in there every weekend without fail for 18months. Then one night 2 lads I'd never seen before came in. As the night drew to a close I recall the dulcet tones of Phyliss Nelson singing "Move Closer". The lads had a dance and a smooch, and then they left hand in hand with them, and I never saw the Swamp Sisters again. One of my pals reckons the sisters tied them up and wouldn't let them go. I can only assume the Swamp Sisters finally found love and happiness with these 2 young and naive lads. I love a story with a happy ending.
