Does anyone think if we lose to Boro that Doug might pull the plug on lamps that would be 8 points from 9 games would he try to freshen things up to try kick start our top 2 chances? Wonder how the relationship is between the two now over not signing Bamford wonder how the contract extension went?

I've watched football for too long to totally dismiss something like this happening

But I can't see it and it would be a mad decision.

No way. But I do expect King will be frowning on it all, perhaps even leaning on FL for prompt improvement.

Maybe not. He could go to knock on Frank’s door to ask WTF is going on, but then quickly think about his season ticket money and change his mind.

As we speak he is personally chasing up the delayed delivery of the 'Lampard Is King' merch that should have hit the shop just before Christmas.
So the answer is emphatically NO.

Even if we lost say the next two or three, we would still be odds on certainties for the playoffs, so I just can't see King sacking Lampard this season. Not while we still have a chance.

Who on earth would you bring in anyway?

Certainties for reaching the playoffs can't believe you're making out that's a good thing.

Lampard has built up enough goodwill over the last 12 months that King won’t be looking to tear his contract up over a poor 2 month spell (especially when you could argue getting us to the top and keeping us there with our relatively small selection of starters is already overachieving)

The only way I could see Lampard leaving before the season’s end would be some sort of falling out/relationship break down, not due to results on the pitch.

Robins was sacked as King felt we had a top 6 deck he added a top class goalkeeper and spent 4m on a cb and rb and has backed the manager with more additions in the Jan window I'd imagine he thinks this squad is a top 2 deck he's got a lot riding on us getting up this season the whole project fails if we don't he can't keep funding us forever unless we finally get through the door to the prem. We can't afford to keep haji mve and a fee more will want to go in the summer if we don't make it. Tough position for him to be in bit of a crossroads point. I hope we can turn it around.

Neither are Boro, Millwall or Hull.

Either way, the underlying data still has us as the second best team in the league. We’ve actually retreated to what xG table indicated as we’re now more or less what the xG table predicts.

There’s enough about this team to get promoted, we just need to sort out a torrid run of away form. It’ll be over 3 months since the last away win if we fail to beat WBA/Sheff U.

Just saying I think it's a reason why King wouldn't sack FL.

Gerrard was a terrific footballer but unfortunately his brain in his feet, he's not the type Doug would employ.
If F.L. was to leave (and I don't think that is likely) I know Robbie Keane is well thought of by the Club .

Will be a very messy end of the season if we’re not promoted. Lampard has 1 season left on his contract. Either way Lampard’s reputation will take one hell of a beating. This job was meant to be his resurgence.

If we don't go up then Lampard will leave and if he doesn't, he should. It would leave his managerial career is absolute tatters and it would be so Cov and so Lampard if that happens.

Very little chance of Doug sacking Lampard, and doing it if we lose to Middlesbrough would be madness.

Don't think Doug will be with us long term though and is hoping for a quick promotion with a view to sell the club on

Really keen to see what he does next season if we dont go up

Been well known inside the club despite his '5 year plan' that he was adamant that we would have done it by this season at the latest.....

We definitely CAN beat Boro. Not saying we will, but our home form is excellent and you have to believe we have a real chance.

Need to treat it like a cup final.

Hilarious. Are we really already talking about Lampard replacements? He’s taken a lop-sided squad to the top of the table in a shoestring.

Regardless of if he’s here or not I expect a lot of turnover if we don’t go up.

Clubs built up alot of assets in our players so would expect a huge rebuild similar to 23/24 with a good few of players sold to make funds

There will be a rebuild whatever happens, that's why, in my opinion, we need to maintain a bit of continuity by keep Lampard and his team.

15 cup finals coming up.

Boro beating the blunts tonight is not a certainty, we beat Boro next Monday and things look a little rosier.

I don’t think Lampard would give us that option if we failed to go up this season.

Plus likewise I think you can argue that if we are doing a major rebuild for our next squad, I want a manager who had longer than one year to oversee it just so we aren’t left with another rebuild required for the next manager.

If he goes that would be up to him but if he is willing to stay I'd give him an extension.

As much as the last couple of months have been poor overall he's done a good job in my opinion.

And I really don't like churning through managers if it can be helped.

I would be amazed if we were in any real trouble tbh, but I would certainly snap your hand off just to get in the Top 6 on the last day of the season next year if we were not to go up this season

All would depend on him. If we are going to give him the next rebuild job, I’d want him to sign an extension at least and also show something between now and the end to show he can get it somewhat back on track.

Well if we blow autos we should end up in the play offs, which would mean he's got us there 2 seasons on the trot.

And going forward play offs is probably our most realistic goal. Think it will be a long time before we see the parachute teams perform as badly as they have this year.

Reaching the play-offs is the target set by King, not automatic promotion. I think there will be a few disappointed people if they're expecting Lampard to be sacked. Let's not forget, he could still take us up this season as well.
